Wintertime at Maltby Wintertime at Maltby

Happy Winter from the Staff at Maltby!!

Please make sure your students are prepared for recess everyday at Maltby. We go outside when we can and students need a coat and appropriate shoes. We don't allow students to go outside in just a hoodie, or in slides or Crocs.

A couple reminders about our parking lot and pick up/drop off...

-- Please give the buses the right of way at all times. Please don't cut in front of them as they leave our lot. It makes everything behind you slower.

-- If the pick up/drop off line is full and you are on Bauer Road, please go right into the lot. DO NOT stop in the driveway and wait for the lane to start moving. It jams up Bauer Road and makes the whole process slower for all the buses and parents.

-- Please remember there is no left turn out of our lot during arrival and dismissal times.

Stay Warm, Maltby Families!!

A Note from Superintendent Outlaw A Note from Superintendent Outlaw

Dear parents,

I am sending this note today as a message of appreciation. One of the many blessings for the Brighton Area Schools is the character of our students. Our students and the way they behave is a reflection on our school district and especially on their families. You should be very proud, just as we are.

Unfortunately, as with any gathering of young people, there are exceptions to the norm. In a safe and secure environment such as ours, those exceptions stand out and can be very bothersome to the overwhelming majority of our students. In these cases, especially on our buses, we continue to encourage our students to say something when they see something. This gives our transportation department and principals an opportunity to address this behavior swiftly and take any needed corrective action.

If you could remind your children about the importance of saying something when misbehavior is seen, this will help us to maintain the highest expectations for behavior and the safest environment for all of our students.

Thank you so much for your time and thank you to your students for reflecting so positively on this district.

Sincerely,

Matt Outlaw

Interested in Online Tutoring??

Virtual Tutoring Opportunity Grades 2 - 8: Reading or Math

For the past few years, Brighton Area Schools have offered invite only Virtual Tutoring for students who may need additional support in reading or math (based on assessment data). This winter, we have a limited number of seats available for additional students in grades 2 - 8 to take advantage of this program.

This 10-week structured program will provide high-dosage one-on-one online tutoring with a live teacher (provided by our partner, Littera) two times per week for 30 minutes utilizing high quality online content. The Virtual Tutoring runs from February 17 through May 1. When registering, families will be able to pick the days and times that work best for them.

This is a virtual program; therefore, students will meet with their live teacher online for only 30 minutes a day, two times per week. Based on the online nature of the program, students can connect from wherever they have internet access.

Complete: Winter Virtual Tutoring Interest Form to express interest in participating in this program. Please complete the form for your student as soon as possible and on or before Friday, January 30, 2026 to express your interest in this opportunity. Space is limited.

Please click on: Informational flyer for details or Littera for additional information about our tutoring services provider.

Superintendent Newsletter - January

The McKinney Vento Act

The Brighton Area Schools is part of a consortium to serve students in temporary living situations that

provides financial support for educational needs, referral for housing, clothing and other needs, general

support and technical assistance. To ensure compliance with federal law, all school staff must help

identify student living in the following situations: emergency shelters/transitional housing,

motels/hotels, car, parks or public spaces, shared housing due to a loss of housing or economic

hardship, or living temporarily with non-parent or guardian.

The district’s homeless liaison is Starr Acromite and each building has trained staff members to assist in

the endeavor. Our consortium contact at the Livingston Educational Service Agency is Candice

Uyttendaele.

Please contact your building principal or Starr Acromite at 810-299-4040 for information/assistance.
