Principal Message

I hope to see many of you at today's Title I Math & Reading Night! A few reminders for the week:

~ Title I Math & Reading Night is TONIGHT! Please join us for free pizza, BINGO, special guest readers, a free book, and other math/reading FUN! It is being held tonight, Thursday, February 26 from 5:30-7:00pm.

~ OKAY Campaign: How's it going? For those of you who are new, the OKAY Campaign reinforces with students the importance of being a first-time listener! Hopefully you are encouraging your child at home by filling up the OKAY chart at home! We've already had some rocking Wildcats do this, and they have earned a special prize!!

~ February Title I Info: At Washington, we believe that strong parent-teacher collaboration is essential for our students' success. When parents and teachers work together, we create a powerful support system that enhances student learning and achievement. We encourage you to engage in open communication with your child’s teachers, participate in school events, and provide feedback on school programs. Your involvement not only helps us understand your child's unique needs but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility for their education. Together, we can help our students thrive academically and socially. Thank you for being an integral part of our school community!

Thanks for always being so supportive of our work!

Ann

Mary Hadley

What do the students at Washington call you?

Miss Mary

What is your job at Washington?

Tutoring grades 4 and 5 in math.

How long have you worked for Mankato Area Public Schools?

I just started in August of 2025 so not a year yet.

What is one of your favorite things about your job?

The students of course. They work hard and often make me laugh.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I was born in Canada, and became a naturalized citizen in 1992

Tell us about your family.

I have an older brother and two nieces. They all live in Canada close to the capital city of the province of Ontario. The capital city is Toronto.

Where did you go to elementary school?

I went to elementary school in my home town of Milton, Ontario, Canada. My home town is about 60 miles from Niagara Falls.

Anything else you would like to share with families?

My life would be incomplete without my pet dog, Nube. That is pronounced new bay and it means cloud in Spanish. He is a Maltese. Maltese are small dogs weighing 7 to 9 pounds and they can have very long fur but I keep Nube clipped so he is often mistaken for a poodle.

Go Wild Cats.
