Mill Valley Weekly

Hello Mill Valley Families,
We are proud to share the results of our parent satisfaction survey which came in at a 4.59 out of
5!
Mill Valley Elementary is dedicated to upholding our district mission of Every Student Learning,
Growing...Succeeding. Your input on the survey gives us an opportunity to reflect upon our
areas of strength and areas in which we can grow.
Here are some areas you said were working well (highest rated statements):
- I believe the school is clean and well maintained. (4.72)
- I am happy to have a child enrolled in this school. (4.72)
- School office staff are welcoming and helpful (4.70)
- This school provides a safe setting for my child's education (4.64)
We will be discussing more details about the survey results with parents in attendance at
the PTO meeting on May 12th @ 5:30 pm (MV Library). Please join us if you'd like!
In the next few weeks, the staff will take a closer look at the survey results and identify areas for
improvement. We value all of our families and will continue to grow in our service and dedication to you.
On behalf of the staff, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our PTO and the entire Mill Valley community for making this week so special. Your contributions during Staff Appreciation Week were greatly appreciated and helped create lasting memories. Thank you for your support in making this week truly memorable!
Sincerely,
Allyce & Julie

PBIS April Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students:
First grade had the least number of major/minors in April
Referrals most often happen on the playground
We need to show integrity and meet expectations all of the time, even when adults aren’t looking or right by us
Referrals happen least often in the hallway
Most kids at Mill Valley are doing a great job of trying their best and aren’t receiving behavior referrals
In addition, our students have earned 1,420 Paw Prints in the month of April! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.
Mill Valley Student Council ~ Collecting for HAWS
Third grade student council is collecting items for HAWS, Humane Animal Welfare Society. We are trying to collect this stuff for animals that don’t have a permanent home. The collection is starting May 12 - May 16. Have your child bring soft dog treats, canned food for dogs and puppies, dry and canned food for cats, KMR kitten formula, cat litter and any sturdy small animal toys. HAWS can also use copy paper, Sharpie markers, liquid hand soap refills, laundry detergent, bleach, clorox wipes, kleenex, toilet paper and alcohol wipes. There will be grade level boxes by the gym and the office where the items can be placed. Every morning on the announcements student council members will announce the grade level in the lead for having the most items. By the end of the week, the grade level with the most items will earn an extra recess.
We are asking for donations for a school math project.
If you have any items around your home on the list, please send them to school.
Save the Date: Last PTO meeting of this school year
Please join us for our last PTO meeting on Tuesday, May 13th at 530 pm. We will be joined by the Kindergarten teachers. We will also be having everyone in attendance vote on next year's fundraiser.
