Juniors/Rising Seniors - Class of 2027
We are so close to the finish line of your junior year. Before you head off for summer adventures, take a moment to celebrate. While next year is a big one, remember that summer is for fun and relaxation!
To help you enjoy your vacation with total peace of mind, here is a quick Senior Ready checklist:
Request your Teacher Letters of Recommendation
If you haven’t already, ask two junior-year teachers for letters of recommendation before you leave for summer break. A polite, in-person ask goes a long way!
Complete your Student Questionnaire and the Parent Brag Sheet.
Your counselor uses these to write your recommendation letter, so please elaborate! The more details and stories you share, the better we can advocate for you.
Finalize your tentative college list with a healthy range of reaches, targets, and safeties. Identify the requirements and deadlines for the schools that are definites. If you want a second pair of eyes to help determine "fit," check in with your counselor before Q4 ends.
Solidify those test scores.
If you’re looking to boost those scores one last time before application season, don't forget to sign up for the August 22nd SAT test date.
Start working on your College essay.
Take a peek at the Common App essay prompts and start brainstorming. You’ll be refining your essay in your senior English class.
Attend Camp College App! We’re excited to spend a few hours with you answering questions, workshopping essays, and giving you the space to knock out sections of the application in a relaxed environment.

Roar Into Service: Make This Summer Count!
Summer break is almost here, Tigers! While the halls of the high school might be quiet, our community is buzzing with energy. Whether you’re looking to boost your college applications, earn some extra cash, or simply explore the world around you, now is the time to build your resumes.
Here are three ways to stay productive, give back, and keep that Tiger pride growling all summer long:
1. Lend a Helping Paw - Community service
There is no better way to support your community than by giving back. Whether it’s helping out at the local animal shelter, weeding the community garden, or coaching a youth sports camp, your time is the most valuable gift you can give.
Pro Tip: Keep a log of your hours now! It makes filling out those scholarship and college forms much easier come fall.
2. Earn Your Stripes - Work experience
A summer job isn't just about the paycheck (though that’s a nice bonus!). It’s about building a "tiger-strong" work ethic. From lifeguarding to retail, you’re learning time management and professional skills that will put you ahead of the pack.
3. Broaden Your Horizons - Cultural Experiences
Step outside your comfort zone! Visit a museum, attend a local cultural festival, or start learning a new language. True leaders are global citizens, and understanding different perspectives makes our community stronger and more vibrant.
We can’t wait to hear your stories when we return to the den in August!

Can you believe it? You’re almost done with your first year of high school! From navigating the maze of hallways to surviving your first round of midterms, you’ve checked the "Freshman" box. Now, the glorious stretch of summer lies ahead. Here are some things you can do over the summer!
Read for Fun:
We know, you’ve been staring at textbooks for months. Pick up a book that isn't on a syllabus.
Tap into your Hobbies:
If you have a hobby, turn it into a community. Start a summer hiking group, a weekly Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or a neighborhood lawn-mowing/dog-walking circuit. This shows initiative. Colleges and employers love seeing that you didn't just wait for an opportunity, you created one.
Do something FUN:
Do at least one thing that makes you lose track of time. If you’re so into a project that you forget to check your phone, you’ve found something worth pursuing!
Enjoy the sun, stay safe, and we’ll see you in the fall as Sophomores!
