French Run Elementary
June 2026 Newsletter
Note from the Principal
Dear French Run Families,
As we reach the end of another wonderful school year, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our students, staff, and families for their hard work, support, and dedication throughout the year. June is a time to celebrate the many accomplishments, friendships, and memories our students have made.
I am incredibly proud of the growth our students have shown both academically and personally. As we enjoy our final activities and celebrations, I encourage everyone to reflect on a successful year and look forward to new opportunities ahead.
Thank you for being valued partners in your child's education. I wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer break. We look forward to welcoming our students back in the fall for another exciting year of learning and growth.
Have a great summer!
Mr. Fetty
5th Grade Graduation
Our 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of our students' achievements and growth. We are proud of all they have accomplished during their elementary school years and wish them continued success as they begin their middle school journey. Congratulations!
April Pride Assembly: Perseverance
Congratulations to our May Pride Team! These students were selected by their peers for the perseverance they showed all year long. Here are some of the comments made about this month's Pride Team:
- At the beginning of the year, coming to school was scary, and not knowing English made each day challenging. Through hard work, bravery, and determination, he has grown into a confident classroom leader who participates, helps others, and shows kindness and respect every day.
- Has been a hard worker all year and never ever gives up.
- She continues working hard even when personal struggles get in the way, and shows a positive attitude toward learning and growth.
- All year long has demonstrated perseverance by his ability to keep trying and not giving up when tasks became a little bit difficult, frustrating, or even required extra effort and / or support all while maintaining a good attitude and a huge smile on his face.
Congratulations Firebirds! We are so proud of you!
Positive Behavior Spotlight: SOAR SIGHTING WINNER
Out of all of our classes, Mrs. Goldman's class received the most SOAR sightings this month!!!
We are so proud of Mrs. Goldman's class for trying their best and working their hardest at school. Thank you for SOARING in all school environments. Great job!
Help Prevent the Summer Slide
Summer slide is the loss of academic skills and knowledge that can occur when students are away from school during summer break and do not regularly practice reading, writing, or math.
To help prevent the "summer slide," encourage students to stay engaged in learning through fun, everyday activities. Here are some ideas for students in grades K–5:
Reading
- Read for at least 20 minutes each day.
- Visit the local library and participate in summer reading programs.
- Create a reading log and set personal reading goals.
- Read a variety of materials, including books, magazines, comics, and newspapers.
Writing
- Keep a summer journal to record daily activities and adventures.
- Write letters, postcards, or emails to family and friends.
- Create stories, comic strips, or poetry.
- Make a scrapbook with captions describing summer memories.
Math
- Practice math facts using flashcards or educational apps.
- Help with cooking by measuring ingredients and doubling recipes.
- Count money and make purchases during shopping trips.
- Play board games that involve counting, strategy, or problem-solving.
Science & Exploration
- Plant a garden and track plant growth.
- Observe insects, birds, or weather patterns and record findings.
- Conduct simple science experiments at home.
- Visit local parks, nature centers, zoos, or museums.
Family Activities
- Take virtual or in-person educational field trips.
- Encourage children to help plan a family outing using maps and schedules.
- Play word games, puzzles, and educational card games.
- Discuss current events and interesting facts during family meals.
Technology Resources
- Use educational websites and apps for reading and math practice.
- Watch educational videos and documentaries designed for children.
- Participate in virtual library programs or learning challenges.
The goal is to keep learning enjoyable and part of everyday life. Even small amounts of reading, writing, and problem-solving throughout the summer can help students return to school ready for a successful new year.

We are excited to share that the PowerSchool Parent Portal is now the MyPowerHub, an all-in-one communication platform designed to keep you quickly and securely connected to your child’s education.
Logging in is seamless. You can continue using the same portal link, username, and password that you use today to access your account.
Instead of jumping between apps and websites, MyPowerHub brings everything together in a single, easy-to-use dashboard.
What you can do with MyPowerHub:
Track Academic Progress: View your student’s class schedules, upcoming assignment deadlines, and real-time grades directly from PowerSchool SIS.
School Broadcasts: Stay in the loop with important school-wide announcements and updates.
One-Click Student Switcher: Have multiple children in the district? Easily toggle between their profiles without logging out.
Integrated PowerSchool Tools: Quickly access back-to-school forms in Ecollect, Assessment results, Transportation information and more from the same dashboard. To receive real-time information about your bus stop, the ability to track your students' bus, and receive text messages directly from the Transportation Department, sign up for the Stopfinder app by visiting the Transportation page on our website.
When does it launch?
We will officially update the links on our website to MyPowerHub this summer for the 2026-2027 school year. We will send out a communication when the links are updated. A PDF of this letter is also attached.

Parent Communication
Beginning Monday September 15th, all family communication was transitioned to using Talking Points. You may click on the link below for additional information about Talking Points.
Parent/Guardians will be automatically enrolled with your phone number and e-mail addresses on file in the office.
It is very important that your phone number is updated so you can stay up to date with information from the building! To begin, TalkingPoints will automatically allow us to communicate by text messages to your phone. If you wish, you can download the TalkingPoints Parent app to your phone. This allows you to do more advanced features such as react to messages, RSVP to events, and more. Downloading the app is optional.
Any changes in phone number, e-mail address, or other important information should be communicated to the front office as soon as you can.
Change of addresses are required by Ohio Law, and should be communicated with our welcome center. Cindy in the French Run front office can help with this process.
