Carter's Corner

Good Evening!

I hope you all had a great long weekend with your families! I apologize this is a little late, but there are so many things I wanted to be sure to share about this upcoming month at Lipscomb!

First, Lipscomb Elementary needs your support! North Texas Giving Day is coming up on September 19th, but you don't have to wait - early giving has already begun. These donations helps us provide essential resources for our students and teachers. Every gift, big or small, makes a difference in our community. Please help us in spreading the word to your networks, both personally and professionally! We will be marketing this opportunity more in the coming weeks, but feel free to shout out our donation link to as many people as you can! Thank you to PTA President Ryan Walton-King for helping plan and prepare for this awesome campaign!

Secondly, September is Attendance Awareness Month, a time for individuals and organizations to learn about attendance issues, absenteeism, and the effects attendance can have on academic performance and success.

School attendance is essential to academic success, but too often students, parents, and schools don’t realize how quickly absences, excused or unexcused, can add up to academic trouble. Chronic absence— missing just 18 days per school year— can lead to third graders being unable to master reading, sixth graders failing courses, and ninth-graders dropping out of high school.

As a campus, we will be participating in DRESS-UP DAYS each Wednesday of the Month (see below for days and themes!) We hope to see you all dress up and #ShowUp as we continue to support attendance every day.

With Gratitude,

Mr. Carter
