🎙️Message from our Principal, Dr. Nicole Irish
Dear Mustang Families,
I hope you all had a restful weekend and are ready for another exciting week at school!
As we look back on the past few days, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible efforts of our students and the strong support of our community. First, a huge shout-out to our Junior Leadership Corps (JLC) students for their stellar representation at their Raider meet on Saturday! We are also overflowing with pride for our Cross Country runners, who showed immense grit and determination at the Gwinnett County Meet on Saturday. So many of our athletes set brand-new Personal Records—your hard work, discipline, and commitment are truly paying off! I also want to thank our coaches and sponsors for their commitment to students.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parents and family members who joined us for our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration on Thursday. Seeing our community come together to honor and celebrate our diverse cultures is always a highlight of our year, and your presence meant so much to our staff and students.
We also appreciate the families who joined us for Saturday’s ESOL Family Fun Day and took advantage of another opportunity to connect with and support our school community.
Looking ahead, we are focused on keeping our students engaged and present every single day. Attendance is key to student success, and to make it fun, we are running a school-wide Homeroom Attendance Competition! Each day a homeroom has 100% attendance, they will earn a letter to help spell out M-U-S-T-A-N-G. Any homeroom that successfully spells the word by the end of the month will win a special prize from our Attendance Office. Please help us support your child's homeroom by ensuring they arrive on time and ready to learn each day!
In the classroom, our students will be taking a deep dive into Instructional Conversations starting this week and running through next week. This powerful teaching strategy is something we use to engage students in meaningful academic discourse across all subject areas. Throughout the week, we will have designated days for structured Joint Productive Activities (JPAs), where students will use their coursework to collaborate and participate in focused, academic discussions. You can check the calendar below to see the specific days assigned for each subject area!
We have a very active week at LMS, so please see below for highlights to help in your planning. Of course, we also recommend that you check the school calendar and read the updates from our Family Engagement Center.

SAT Word of the Week
This week’s word is incessant, an adjective meaning unending or continuing without stopping.
Example: “The incessant noise made it difficult for the students to concentrate.”
Ask your student to use incessant in a conversation or in their writing this week.
Tips for Families
A few quick ideas for supporting your middle schooler at home this week:
- Build a study routine. Help your student set aside a regular time and place for schoolwork, and encourage their best effort while recognizing progress.
- Strengthen memory and understanding. Ask your student to explain a concept or work through a sample problem to make sure they really understand what they are learning.
- Let your student help solve problems. Instead of immediately giving the solution, explain your concern and ask your student what they think could work. This helps them become more independent problem-solvers.
