The first week of October is the Week of Respect in Nevada. Students will learn about respect throughout the week.

• We encourage everyone to wear something blue on Thursday (10/5/2023) to celebrate the Week of Respect.
• We encourage everyone to wear a school spirit shirt on Friday (10/6/2023) to celebrate our school.

Conferences will be held during the week of October 9, 2023. There is no school on Monday, October 9, 2023, due to a planned staff development day. There will be no classes for elementary students on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, for conferences to be held during the day. The evening of Tuesday, October 10, 2023, has been reserved for parents who need an evening conference. Your child is welcome to attend the conference.

The goal of our fall conferences is to share your child’s progress toward academic achievement and work with you to plan for your child’s continued academic success. The most recent assessment data, along with classroom performance, and an instructional plan will be discussed during conferences. Every parent/guardian and student will be scheduled for a conference.

Please return the invitation form to your child's teacher as soon as possible after receiving it!

The vote for third parent/guardian representative for the 2023-2024 school year on the School Organizational Team will be on Monday, October 2, 2023. Look for information via ParentLink on Monday!

The School Organizational Team (SOT) for LWJES will meet on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. virtually using Google Meet. The SOT is comprised of both parent and faculty representatives and the SOT discusses the school's plan of operation and provides advice and feedback to the school's administration.

Parents and guardians are welcome and invited to attend the meetings of the SOT.

View agendas and minutes on the school's website in the SOT tab.

To join the meeting via Google Meet, click on the event on the school's main website at the time of the meeting with the meeting information. Click here for the calendar.

The asphalt replacement project is almost complete. Most work has been completed, but there are a few remaining components that need to be finished up. Look for photos of the new features of the playground coming in a future newsletter!

For the week ending September 29, 2023, student attendance rates were:

• Pre-K: 96.41%
• Kinder: 88.0%
• Grade 1: 88.6%
• Grade 2: 90.8%
• Grade 3: 91.9%
• Grade 4: 93.5%
• Grade 5: 94.2%

• Whole School: 91.8%

Regular school attendance is critical for student learning and achievement. Avoidable absences negatively impact a student's progress, and we appreciate families getting students to school on time each and every school day! Make Today Matter!
