Miller Weekly Update

Dear Parents and Guardians,

With the unexpected change in air quality this week, we had to make a few adjustments to our schedule. Fun Day is rescheduled for Thursday, June 15th. Fortunately, we were still able to carry on with most of our end of the year activities. On Tuesday, June 6th we held our annual Miller Mile. Qualifying 4th and 5th grade students competed to finish their Miller Mile in recording breaking times. On Wednesday, June 7th Team 5 and 8 fourth grade students visited Historic Cold Spring Village in Cape May. Students experienced what life was like in southern New Jersey by understanding the region’s history and embracing personal encounters from the past. On Thursday, June 8th we hosted 4th grade orientation for Davenport students. Our future 4th graders had the chance to tour the building and meet teachers/staff. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday. Have a great weekend!

Team 1 traveled the world on Wednesday! Students went to each classroom where they learned about the 7 different continents and their countries. They were responsible for remembering their passports in order to get into each continent. Students enjoyed their time in each classroom, participating in engaging activities, and playing games!

The students from Mrs. Girard, Mrs. Grassi, and Mrs. McLaughlin’s classes had a great time enjoying “Pancake Day!” We have been learning about the different states of matter and chemical vs. physical changes in science. This was a fun and “yummy” way to experience the lesson first hand.

We held our annual Miller Mile on Tuesday, June 6th! Congrats to all of the runners! A big thank you to our Phys. Ed. teachers for organizing another great event!

After a month long unit on plants, Mrs. Biren's students watched tomato seeds sprout using only a baggies and paper towel. Once the seeds started to root/sprout, the students planted them in soil to continue to watch them grow!

The Mindful Motivators celebrated their last week of teaching yoga, mindfulness, breathing techniques, etc at the Miller School. They worked hard all year to bring these skills to classrooms across the Miller School. They developed new leadership skills and learned & taught social emotional tools to their peers. The Mindful Motivators earned certificates and stickers for all their hard work! We are so proud of all of you!

Congratulations to our May Heroes of the Month who displayed perseverance in their classrooms. We are so proud, keep up the good work!
