Dolphin Splash
11/2-11/6
Welcome to November!
This month, our school-wide focus turns to the core value of Gratitude. As the season changes, we are taking time to help our students reflect on appreciation, community, and the many good things surrounding us each day.
Looking back on October, our school community truly shined. Not even the rain could stop us from enjoying our annual Halloween Parade! Between our vibrant Halloween festivities, an impactful Red Ribbon Week, and our inspiring Hispanic Heritage celebrations, our students had incredible opportunities to learn, celebrate, and connect.
As we settle into the new month, here are two key administrative updates:
California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS): The survey window is now open throughout the entire month of November. Your input is vital in shaping our school climate, programs, and support systems. Please take a few moments this month to complete the survey—we deeply value your feedback!
End of Trimester 1: This week officially marks the end of our first trimester. Teachers are finalizing grades, and hard-copy report cards will be sent home with students on Wednesday, November 18th.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making Valley View such a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.
Have a fantastic week!

Meet Our Counselor: Ms. Revuelta
Ms. Revuelta (Ms. R) will be a temporary counselor at Valley View while Ms. Martinez is out on leave. We are thrilled that she has joined the dolphin community to ensure that our students continue to receive support 🐬

ATTENDANCE NEWS
ATTENDANCE
It is important that all students attend school every day. Exceptions may include if your child is ill. Please plan all family vacations during school vacation days. It is important to set your child up for success by assuring they are in school. For a detailed look at the Duarte Unified School District's attendance policies, please click this link:
We realize some absences are for health or other reasons. But, when students are absent they can fall far behind in what they learn. Whether the absence is excused or unexcused It means your child is missing important classroom learning time.
Some Attendance Tips:
- Please notify the office within 72 hours to report your child's absence and the reason they were not in school. Please report using THIS LINK or calling 626-599-5512.
- Illness, bereavement, and court hearings are the only reason for an "Excused" absence.
- Make sure your students keep a regular bedtime and establish a morning routine.
- Turn off all electronics including TVs, phones, and tablets at bedtime.
- Make sure clothes and pack backpacks are ready the night before.
- Check with our school nurse or office staff if you are not sure about when to keep your child at home due to illness.
- Avoid scheduling vacations or doctor’s appointments when school is in session.
- Talk to teachers and counselors for advice if your student feels anxious about going to school.
- Develop backup plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, neighbor, or another parent to take your student to school.
Please let us know how we can best support you and your student so that they can show up for school on time every day.
