We had a terrific second week at Prospect! Our Panthers continue to settle into routines, build relationships, and Shine Bright each day. We are looking forward to welcoming all of our families to Curriculum Night and sharing more about the learning and experiences ahead this year. We can’t wait to see you!
📊 MAP Testing Next Week
Next week, our students will participate in their first round of MAP testing for the school year. MAP assessments provide our teachers with valuable information about each student’s strengths and what they are ready to learn next.
Following MAP testing, students will also complete an Inform Assessment. Our teachers use the information from both MAP and Inform, along with classroom assessments and daily observations, to differentiate instruction and provide the appropriate level of support and challenge for each student. This data helps teachers identify specific skills students have mastered, areas that may need additional instruction, and opportunities for enrichment.
As we always remind our Panthers, these assessments are just one piece of the puzzle. Our goal is for students to simply do their best and show us what they know.
Families can help by making sure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time and ready to learn.
Please see the MAP testing schedule below for your child’s testing dates and times.
We are excited to see our Panthers Shine Bright and show what they know! 🌟🐾
Detention Pond & Drainage Update
We wanted to provide families with an update regarding the area adjacent to Prospect and the work you may have noticed taking place there. It is important to clarify that while this area may look like an open field during dry weather, it is actually a detention pond designed to temporarily collect and manage stormwater.
The detention pond is currently experiencing several drainage issues that are being addressed. Multiple sinkholes have developed in the area, and crews have been installing new piping to help correct these concerns. In addition, the water has not been draining from the detention pond as intended. During the recent heavy rainfall, water from the overflow parking lot actually flowed back into the detention pond rather than properly moving through the drainage system. A large sewer serving the area is also clogged, further contributing to the drainage concerns.
Because this drainage system extends beyond school property, addressing the issues requires a coordinated effort among the District, Village, and Park District. We are all working together to identify the issues, determine the necessary repairs, and find the best path forward.
We appreciate everyone's patience as this work continues. The safety of our students and families remains our priority, and we will continue working with our community partners as the drainage and detention pond issues are addressed.
