March is here and Spring Break is on the horizon!

March is usually a month of transition - with the weather and the students. Have you noticed how big your kids are getting??? They are growing so much and becoming so much more independent. It's when we start to turn a corner within the 4K classroom as well. We usually start to see more maturity and independence from them as well. We can start reading longer stories, ask them to sit a bit longer and stay more engaged in activities and we're able to keep their attention a bit longer. It's such a huge sign of growth in kids when this happens and that's what makes March such a fun time in 4K.

Thank you to all who joined us, what a great turnout! We had a fun night at the Head Start Center 2 for our February family night. We had dinner, super hero activities in the preschool classroom and fun in the gym! See below for photos and videos.

We collaborate with UW-Extension in a variety of ways within our Early Childhood Department. One resource they offer and share each month is a series called Parenting the Preschooler. There is GREAT information in here for you as the parent of preschooler! Please take a moment and read through the information. I'll share age 4 & 5 each month within the 4K newsletter.

On Thursday, March 6th the Veterans and Nontraditional Students Center of The University of Wisconsin-Superior will be hosting Books with Buzz. This event will be held on the second floor of the Jim Dan Hill library located on the UWS campus from 5-7PM. This is a family friendly event that will feature many different fun activities using various arts and crafts! Please come early as the first 50 children will receive a free book to take home! All parents/guardians must stay with their children for the entirety of the time that they are in attendance.

Brrr! Winter is here, and it's time to refresh your cold-weather wardrobe! Join us for a Winter Clothes Swap at the cozy Duluth's Best Bread-Superior! Bring your gently used winter clothing items (coats, sweaters, hats, scarves, gloves, etc.) that you no longer need or wear, and swap them for something new-to-you! This is a fantastic opportunity to declutter your closet, find some hidden gems, and help others do the same. Let's give our unwanted winter gear a second life and keep everyone warm and stylish this season!

How it works:
1. Bring clean, gently used winter clothing items in good condition. (Please no rips, tears, or stains.)
2. Drop off your items at the designated area.
3. Browse the selection and find something you love!
4. Take what you need, and leave what you don't. It's that simple! Duluth's Best Bread Superior will have their delicious treats and warm beverages available for purchase to keep you cozy while you swap!
