Week 4 FamilyUpdateWeek of September 16, 2024

HELLO EAGLES!

We are heading into Week 4 and things are moving fast! There are some exciting things coming up the next few weeks so be sure to read on and mark your calendar!

FREE ENRICHMENT classes are here!

  • Classes are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45-4:00; Those that are in the Tuition Based After Care Program will dismissed at 5:00
  • Offered First-Come, First-Serve
  • Please use this link to sign up for these by Wednesday, September 18th! Classes are dismissed at 4:00.

As we are just about 2 weeks before progress reports, I want to remind parents about the importance of students being in school, on-time, and ready to learn. We have a considerable amount of students coming in after 7:55.

Parents keep in mind, that when your child is coming in late, they are missing instruction. In the primary grades, they are missing phonics or their specials classes. In the intermediate grades, they are missing the reading or math mini-lesson. Middle grades students are missing their intervention time where they are getting very specific small group instruction. Make up work doesn't make up for this missed time. Please work to ensure your children come to school on-time ready to learn!

Letters have gone our regarding student's Medical Compliance. Starting next week, we will continue to send the letters and request a parent signature on the document. The Medical Compliance is not a suggestion and it is important that parents act on this quickly as we have deadlines that the District and State hold us accountable to. Nurse Landeros is a great resource if you have any questions. Please reach out to her at melanderos1@cps.edu if you have any questions.

Please continue reading on as there are important updates and reminders!

Enrichment programs will run from September 24th to October 24th from 2:45pm to 4pm. Programs will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Register by Wednesday September 18th. Choose your child's grade level for a description of each program.

Dismissal from Enrichment classes will be at the Gym Doors. Parents please make sure you are here by 4:00pm unless you are enrolled in the Tuition-Based After Care. The Tuition-Based After Care dismissal times will remained unchanged.

These after school programs are not like After Care in that they are actual programs that need the full hour each day. Please do not pick up your child before 4:00 unless it is an emergency.

Please Note:

There are no bus services after 2:45. If your child participates, you must be able to pick up at 4:00.

  • If you are going to pick up before 4:00, you must go to the office and request an Early Dismissal.
  • These programs are enrichment based. Class size will be 18 students and there is 1 staff member leading them. For this Enrichment program, supports that are in place for the academic school day ARE NOT in place for the Enrichment After School programs (i.e. SECA support, toileting).
  • Enrichment classes are designed to provide our students additional outlets to develop their skills in Art, Dance, Engineering, Sports, etc. Good behavior, following program rules/expectations and consistent attendance is required to remain in the program.

Special Note to our Families:

  • Enrollment is on a first come first serve basis. Please enroll as soon as possible as class sizes are full at 18.
  • Confirmation in the programs will be provided by Monday, September 23rd.
  • Waitlisted students will be notified by Monday, September 23rd
  • Poor attendance in the programs could result in your child being removed from the program.
  • Programs with less than 12 students enrolled will be cut and those students will be able to choose another after school program.
