Student Fees (Seniors - Important Reminder)
Now is a great time to log into your Parent Portal and review your student’s account and outstanding fees.
For Seniors, this is especially important as we prepare for upcoming senior activities. Seniors with outstanding fees will need to pay those fees before they can pick up their Cap and Gown.
Outstanding balances may include fees from Hopkins High School as well as prior schools attended in the district. We encourage families to review and pay their outstanding balances in the Campus Parent Portal account.

Course Request Audit
Earlier today, families received an email titled “Review 26-27 Course Request Audit” with your student’s requested courses for next school year. Please review these selections together to confirm they align with your student’s interests and plans, especially in light of the update that weighted grades will not be implemented for the 2026-2027 school year. If changes are needed, students must submit requests using the Course Request Change Form by Friday, May 22nd. Students must be logged into the Hopkins Apps account to submit the google form. If no form is submitted, we will assume your student is satisfied with their selections.

Important Attendance Reminders
To help ensure a smooth and timely dismissal process, attendance requests should be submitted by 10:00 a.m. on the day of the request. Whenever possible, we encourage families to schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours to maximize instructional time.
If a student becomes ill or injured during the school day and needs to leave early, we are happy to support that process through the Health Office. Students who are already at school must be checked out by the school nurse to ensure their safety and proper documentation.
For student safety, attendance-related phone calls must come from a phone number listed in the student’s contact information. If your contact details change, please update them promptly through the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus or by contacting the counseling office.
Attendance requests are reviewed in accordance with our attendance procedures and require a stated, valid reason. If you have unique or extenuating circumstances affecting your student’s attendance, we encourage you to reach out to your student’s counselor so we can work together to provide support.
New Student Check-In/Check-Out Pilot this Spring
In the final weeks of the school year, Hopkins High School is piloting a new student check-in/check-out kiosk system for students who enter or leave the building during the school day. Students will enter or scan their student ID at the kiosk. Their attendance will then update in Campus and print the student a physical pass to class.
This system is designed to improve real-time attendance accuracy, strengthen student safety during the school day, and streamline the check-in/check-out process.
This pilot period allows us to test the system and address any issues before fully launching at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
Please continue to call our attendance line or enter absences in the Parent Portal. We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work to improve building processes.

From Farrah Buffington, HHS Theatre Program Director
I am thrilled to share some exciting news about our recent production of Urinetown! Following the formal assessment by Hennepin Arts’ Spotlight Education program, Hopkins Royal Productions has another first; back-to-back outstanding performances!
For the second year in a row, and only the second time in our school's history, Hopkins High School has been awarded the highest possible honor from Hennepin Arts: Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre.
Earning this "best in state" equivalent honor back-to-back is a great recognition of what we are building here at Hopkins. This isn't just one great cast or tech team; it is a sustainable program of excellence.
Because of this award, our students will perform on the big stage at the Spotlight Showcase at the State Theatre in Downtown Minneapolis on Monday, June 8th.
We are so proud to represent the district at the highest level of high school musical theater.

Link Crew Leaders Needed for 2026-27

As a Link Crew leader, you help welcome and support new students as they transition into high school, making them feel connected, included, and confident from day one. Link Crew members serve as positive role models, mentors, and friendly faces who help create a school culture where everyone belongs. It’s also a chance to meet new people, grow as a leader, and leave a lasting impact on younger students and the school community.
If you’re interested, complete the application here.
Please follow up with Mr. Johnson (S154) if you have questions.

Updated Device Restrictions
To keep student devices focused on learning, we are expanding what is blocked. YouTube Shorts is now blocked on student devices at all times. Social media, previously blocked only during the school day, will now also be blocked outside of school hours.
Students will continue to have access to approved educational websites and tools needed for instruction.
We encourage families to supervise device use at home and create a media plan that reflects your family's routines and values. Two free resources can help:
The American Academy of Pediatrics' Family Media Plan tool
The Jamf Parent app for K-8 families with school-issued iPads, which lets you manage app access outside of school
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting safe, focused, and effective technology use for learning.
