A Message from Mrs. Klein
Greetings, UCE Families and Friends,
Whew! It was another fun-filled week at UCE! One thing I can say about our Bearcats- they are flexible and roll with the changes. I want to give a HUGE shout out to our head custodian, Mr. Lindy, who acted quickly, arrived before dawn, and got our air conditioning woes fixed quickly on Thursday (right at 9:00 a.m.). Thank you, Mr. Lindy!
Beginning next Wednesday, Harmony will send automated messages to parents whose students are marked absent (unexcused). These calls will go out at 9:45 a.m. Teachers will be submitting attendance no later than 9:15 a.m. If you receive the text but have already called your student off, please notify our attendance secretary, Mrs. Roberts, as she may still be working through the morning’s voicemail and messages, and the absence may not have been updated yet.
We are needing to remind students to please leave toys, games, and sports equipment from home at home. These items tend to be a distraction or get lost. Thank you for helping us by reminding students to leave these items at home (unless a teacher specifically requests they bring something in).
Our UCE Picture Day will be Wednesday, September 23rd, and will take place during the school day. All ordering will be done online. See below for ordering information.
Mark your calendars for our upcoming UCE PTO Fall Fest on October 9, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. This is always such a fun event, and includes our Book Fair, Trunk or Treat, food trucks, and FUN! We hope to see you here! All proceeds from the food trucks and Trunk or Treat will go to our PTO, who always plans incredible experiences for our Bearcats and supports the many activities and projects we do throughout the year. Thank you, UCE PTO!
You are loved at UCE,
Mrs. Klein

SEL Spotlight - Mrs. Parks
Character trait of the Month: Resilience
Resilience: the ability to handle tough times, learn from them, and to keep going even when things are difficult.
Topic: All grades will take part in a cup challenge this week, putting their resilience to the test!
All Grades: Focus on resilience, respecting each other, working cooperatively and valuing each other's thoughts and ideas.
Activities:
Kindergarten and First Grade: Students will tackle the Solo cup pyramid challenge, a fun activity that promotes engineering skills, teamwork, and critical thinking. They will work through multiple difficulty levels, practicing problem-solving with each new pyramid.
Grades 2 through 5: Using the "Cup Game," students will learn the importance of resilience. To master the rhythmic passing of the cups, they will have to practice and start over repeatedly. They will showresilience as they sing, “You pass the cup left to right like this. You pass the cup and you never, ever miss.”

Bearcats Staying Safe Online
UCE is pleased to share the Indiana Department of Education’s Internet Safety Series with Bearcats and their families. This free collection includes workshop recordings and resources covering cyberbullying, social media, online gaming, artificial intelligence and deepfakes, digital privacy, oversharing, and recognizing online deception. Scan the flyer’s QR code to explore the complete collection in the Indiana Learning Lab.
WHS Military Wall of Honor
The Wheeler High School "Military Wall of Honor" was created to honor all WHS graduates who served in US Armed Forces whether it was in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard, and/or Space Force. This service includes enlistment, commissioned as an Officer, and service in the National Guard or in the Reserves.
This exhibit serves as a reminder of our freedoms - and of the men and women in uniform who guard those freedoms - to all those who enter the Grand Hall of Wheeler High School.
- IF YOU ARE A WHS GRADUATE WHO IS CURRENTLY SERVING OR WHO PREVIOUSLY SERVED IN THE US ARMED FORCES, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM SO THAT WE CAN HONOR YOU.
- IF YOUR LOVED ONE IS A WHS GRADUATE WHO SERVED OR IS CURRENTLY SERVING IN THE US ARMED FORCES, PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM SO THAT WE CAN HONOR THEM.
