Message from Principal Nicole Pease
We are excitedly preparing for the start of the school year. We will begin our year with a focus upon our school motto which is "DCS Cares...about ourselves, each other, our school, and community." As we work to develop a deeper understanding of what this means in different aspects of our school we will be modeling to better see what caring might look like in our classrooms, hallways, Multi Purpose Room, etc. This is a very important process that will help us develop our school wide rules.
We will also spend a great deal of time learning about ways to be best ready to learn. If students are showing that they are not ready, staff will teach about different strategies to help students regain their readiness. This is part of our work with supporting students in developing self regulation skills. Each classroom has a space called a "regulation station" in which there are reminders and tools to help students regulate their emotions and focus. School is a lot of work!
I am so excited to be back at DCS, in my community, and at the elementary school I attended. Out staff is amazing and I am thankful for them and so looking forward to getting to know those families that I do not yet know.
I want to give a big shout out to our custodian, Mr. Russell. He works so hard to make sure our school is in the best possible shape it can be! Our floors are beautiful! We will all make sure to respect his efforts and thank him whenever possible!
A few requests of our parents: if you drop off or pick up your student/s, please be patient. Our parking lot is small and there is a clear traffic pattern! Parents/Guardians that go against the traffic pattern are potentially putting students at risk. A few minutes of wait time is not worth that. Please too know that the many last minute changes to after school planning cause a huge disruption to our school. Please make sure all after school plans are in Pick Up Patrol each day by 2pm. For new families, information about this will be coming soon!
Please reach out if you have any questions. We hope you have a wonderful August and we will see you soon, Nicole
First Day Packets
First Day Packets are Now Available Online
ConVal School District is pleased to announce that beginning with the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, student First Day Packet forms will be available online. This streamlined process will make it easier to collect important information about students and save families time.
The primary guardian of each student who is currently enrolled in our District will receive one email per student with a special link to PowerSchool’s First Day Packet forms. There you will be asked to create a family account. Many fields will be pre-populated and we ask that you take the time to review the information for accuracy and/or update as necessary.
The traditional paper forms can be made available if completing the forms online is not an option.
Introduction from Art Teacher Justin Melle
Dear Families,
I am delighted to begin teaching art in the ConVal elementary schools this year. I have enjoyed teaching in New Hampshire since 1997 and I look forward to many new creative ventures at SAU 1.
My goal as an art teacher is to create a joyful and supportive environment where all students can explore their creativity and express themselves through art. I believe that art is a powerful tool for communication and self-expression, and I am excited to help students discover new ways to share their ideas, messages, and visions with the world.
I am always eager to include family and community members in our process. Please contact me if you have any questions, would like to discuss ideas, share your creativity with students, or join a class.
I will begin this year in Francestown from August 30 to September 8 and continue to work with students in each school on the following schedule:
Pierce 9/11-9/15, Hancock 9/18-8/22, Temple 9/25-9/29, Greenfield 10/2-10/6, and Dublin 10/10-10/13. This rotation will repeat each trimester.
I make every attempt to teach students to care for their clothing while using art materials, but paint, glue, and markers sometimes get the better of our efforts. Please consider sending your child with older clothes or an old dress shirt as a smock on art days.
Many Thanks,
Justin Melle
Letter from Mrs. Primrose, Library Media Specialist
Dear Dublin Consolidated School Students and Families,
Hi! I’m Mrs. Primrose and I am the library media specialist at DCS. I live in Dublin, NH with my husband, Don and our dog, Daisy. In my free time a few things I enjoy are reading, playing music and dancing.
In the library this year we will read, share our stories, read, ask questions, read, discover more about our world, read, grow together as learners, and read some more. We will have lots of opportunities to recommend books to each other!
Enjoy the rest of your summer. I look forward to meeting you soon at DCS! If anyone has questions or concerns about library related learning anytime during the school year, feel free to reach out to me at eprimrose@conval.edu.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Primrose
