The Fillmore Central School District offers our online lunch payment program called e~Funds for Schools. This program offers various options for parents/guardians who choose to make payments online and is extremely user friendly. Not only will you have the ability to pay for breakfast and lunch payments electronically withdrawn from your checking account or charged to your credit card, you also have the flexibility to make a payment at any time through the school's website. The e~Funds for Schools service is offered to you by a third-party service provider and they charge for processing your payment(s), similar to other online banking services. The district does not request or keep records of family checking or credit card account information. Cash and checks will still be accepted in all three buildings.
Elementary parents, please note that elementary milk money will not be able to paid through e-Funds. Please bring cash or check to the Elementary.
The e~Funds for Schools electronic payment service is provided to the school by a third-party service provider. The service provider has a nominal fee for their service. There is a $1.75 transaction convenience fee for each electronic checking payment that you make. The system carries a Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF) charge if the payment is “bad.” For payments made by credit or debit card, there is a convenience fee of $2.95 per each $100 increment in the transaction. New Staff
Danae Birky - 1st Grade
I grew up in the Trumbull area through high school, then moved to Chadron, NE to study Elementary Education at CSC. I graduated May of 2025, then married my amazing husband a month later. We moved to Geneva last August and have been getting more ingrained into this fabulous community ever since. We have loved getting connected in our new church home, the E-Free Church, through the youth group and the worship team. I have spent this past school year subbing in different schools around the area and now finally get to build a classroom of my own in the FC district! I’m a sucker for all things ice cream, small town coffee shops are a must, sushi and pasta are my go to cravings, and I love Jesus with my whole heart!
I’m really looking forward to getting to know this sweet community better! Everyone I have talked to has spoken so highly about this school district, and my time subbing here at the Elementary school was exceptional. Getting to know the staff and students this past year has me hooked and I am so thrilled to be able to say I am now a part of the FC district!
Spending time outside, soaking up the sun is an all time favorite pastime of mine. Whether that includes playing spike ball, pickle ball, going to the farmers market, reading a book, going on walks, I love it all. I also love anything that involves spending time and connecting with people. If there’s an opportunity to socialize, count me in! In my quiet time, I enjoy reading books and spending time with Jesus.
Merissa Zajic - Elementary Special Education
I’m excited to be joining Fillmore Central Elementary School as a special education teacher next year!
I love exploring new ways to help students learn and grow, and I’m especially passionate about supporting diverse learners as they build confidence both academically and personally. I truly enjoy working with students of all ages, from kindergarten through 12th grade and adulthood. I also value continuing to grow as an educator and enjoy learning alongside colleagues—because learning never really ends.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jake, our three children, our dog Arnie, and our extended family. We both grew up in rural communities and feel grateful to now be raising our family in one as well.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, time with friends, and watching all of my kids’ activities. I also enjoy baking and canning our garden fresh veggies. We enjoy and seek any opportunities we can to explore new places as a family.
I’m looking forward to a great year and to getting to know the students and families at Fillmore Central Schools!
I am most looking forward to building new relationships and serving new students and families at Fillmore Central. I’m also looking forward to new learning opportunities and growing alongside fellow educators.
Brooke Boelter - 5th Grade
I moved to the area this spring and am looking forward to being a part of this community! I am staying very busy this summer with getting married to my fiancé, Blake, traveling, and puppy training our chocolate lab, Junie. I currently teach 5th grade in Lincoln Public Schools and am excited to continue teaching 5th Grade at Fillmore Central!
I am so excited to be a part of a small town community, collaborate and build positive relationships with students, staff, and families, and see students be successful in and out of the classroom.
In my free time, I love to travel, spend time outdoors, exercise, bake, and cheer on the Huskers!
Anna Fisher - Family & Consumer Science
I grew up on a family farm just outside of Beaver City, NE, where livestock, farming, and cooking were my life. I was heavily involved in 4-H growing up, which sparked my love for sewing and baking. I attended Chadron State College and graduated with my Bachelor's in Family Consumer Science Education. I love all things food, and enjoy a good book or a crocheting project during my downtime.
I’m really looking forward to meeting new people and connecting with the fellow teachers and students I will be working with.
I really enjoy cooking, baking, reading, and crocheting in my free time. As well as spending time with my family.
Hunter Verhage - 7th & 8th Social Studies
I am a proud Fillmore Central graduate. I grew up in Geneva for most of my childhood. After high school, I attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where I graduated in the spring of 2025. Last spring, I was fortunate to student teach at York High School. Then this past year, I moved to Alliance, where I got the opportunity to serve as a high school social studies teacher and middle school basketball and track coach.
I am excited to join a school that has such great support from their members in the community. From a young age, I spent countless hours growing up inside an FC school building. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to give back by making a positive impact on students in the same hallways that many educators did for me.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have several family members that live in and around Fillmore County. I also am an avid sports fan. I always enjoy catching a football or basketball game on tv, as well as attend any extracurricular activity the school is hosting. In the warmer months, I also enjoy going for longer runs in my spare time.

Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! This year will be an exciting year at FCHS. Our construction project is really starting to take shape. Construction projects generally require some flexibility, but any inconveniences will be minor and we are all looking forward to the completion of this project in the next couple of years. With that being said, here are a few reminders and updates as we kick-off the 2026-27 school year.
Staffing
For the first time in 5 years, FCHS will have a new staff member. Anna Fisher will be teaching FCS as well as sponsoring the FCCLA. Please welcome Anna!
Activity Calendar
Over the summer, we made the switch to Bound for our online activity calendar. Our hope is that Bound will be more user friendly and more appealing to those people who use it. I know on my end it is, but like everything else, learning a new system takes time. We will do our best to keep this updated with the correct information. You can access the new Bound website at: https://www.gobound.com/ne/schools/fillmorecentral. You can also install the Bound app for your phone by going to your App Store for Apple devices or Google Play on Android devices.
Attendance
One fairly major change for this year at the high school pertains to attendance and potential loss of credits due to excessive absences. In the past, students were allowed 10 non-doctor verified days each semester before we look at forfeiture of credit. Starting with this school year, the board of education has approved a change to 8 non-doctor verified absences before we look at the possibility of forfeiture of credit. This number is more in line with NDE’s days related to chronic absenteeism.
A second change will be an early-release incentive for students. We have adjusted our Friday schedule as we have moved our HR to the end of the day. Students who meet the following criteria will be allowed to leave for the weekend at 3:15 p.m.
Students cannot have any first period tardies during the week. Additionally, they can have no more than 1 tardy to any other class during the week
Attendance - students may not miss any school, other than for a school activity to be eligible for the early release option
Students must be passing all classes
Students must not be on the ICU list
If students choose to leave, they must leave campus. They are not required to leave, but they cannot hang around in the parking lot, lockerrooms, etc…
Students must not have any discipline or behavior issues during the week. This includes cell phone violations
Parents will need to give consent at the start of the year for their student to access this option, should they meet the criteria
RRSH Change
For the past 8 years, FCHS has utilized a rotating remedial study hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This year we will be moving to only one period each week, which will be on Wednesdays. Our rationale is that 2 periods each week were too much. Additionally, there are very few school activities on Wednesdays, which will allow more students the opportunity to utilize this study period each week.
Locker Sign Up/Packet Pick Up
Students may stop at school anytime between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm on August 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th to sign up for a locker and pick up their packets.
9th Grade/New Student Laptop Check out
As we are transitioning to Chromebooks this fall, we will NOT be checking out laptops prior to the start of school. All students will receive their Chromebooks once school starts.
ICU
This year will mark the 6th year that we will be using the Power of ICU program. As a reminder, this program is essentially a communication tool designed to help ALL students complete ALL assignments with quality, and in a timely manner. This program is not perfect, but it has made a positive impact on student learning and I am excited that we can continue with the communication tool.
Second Chance Breakfast
We will once again be offering breakfast between first and second period each day. This opportunity has been well received by our kids and we are happy to be able to offer this program. With the Friday schedule change mentioned earlier in this article, we will still offer breakfast on Fridays between 1st and 2nd period.
School Supplies
As has been done for the past several years, all necessary school supplies will be made available to students.
Cell Phone Policy
Last year was our first year with the new cell phone policy. The change seemed to have a positive impact on student engagement, which correlated to better student learning. With that being said, this policy will remain unchanged for this school year.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.
GO FC!!!
Activity Pass
Activity passes are $75 per person. They are able to be used at any regular season games. Your name will be added to the list once you have paid. Passes will not be accepted at Conference or District events.
