Mid-Summer Edition: Late July, 2026
Summer Greetings! We hope this mid-summer update finds you well and enjoying the warm, sunny days of July. While we miss our Timberwolves, our team has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year.
As we look ahead, please mark your calendars for Welcome Back Orientation on Tuesday, August 25th and our first day of school, Opening Day, on Wednesday, September 2nd.
We know summer is a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy extra time with family and friends, and we certainly do not want to rush anyone into back-to-school mode. That said, with the new school year just five weeks away, we wanted to share this brief update now so you have information available when it is most convenient for you.
Please watch for our Back-to-School Special in mid-August, which will include additional details and important information for the start of the school year. In the meantime, if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to assist, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, take care, and thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to welcoming everyone back soon!
With Gratitude,
Alex, Medgar, & Tyler

Summer Construction Update
Our Evergreen campus has been busy this summer with multiple ongoing facilities projects designed to improve both the function and comfort of our school. These projects were funded through the 2022 facilities levy and we are grateful for the support and ability to upgrade our school building/campus for the betterment of our Timberwolves. The below images provide a snapshot of our summer efforts including extensive heating/air conditioning work and the recent resurfacing of our Evergreen tennis courts, including newly painted pickleball courts.
To aid the the timely completion of these projects, many members of our Evergreen team were relocated to North Middle for the month of July. Work associated with our Evergreen office are expected to warp in the early August and we are on track to reopen our offices on Monday, August 10th. In the interim, please reach out via email (above) with any questions/inquiries.

Expected Opening Day 2026: Wednesday, September 2nd
This year, our 2026/27 school year is expected to begin on Wednesday, September 2nd. While a finalized district calendar is forthcoming (associated LINK), we are preparing for and fully expect to open our school year on the Wednesday before the labor day weekend. Like last year, this schedule allows for a "three-four-five" staggered start to the school year with three school days in our first week, four school days in our second week, and a full five-day week as our third week. This staggered start has been proven beneficial in helping students better acclimate to the start of the year. It also provides us with needed scheduling flexibility as we have a variety of academic and operational deliverables across the first few weeks of the school year.
On Opening Day (Wednesday, 9/2), please know that our first bell will ring at 7:25am, as normal, with first period beginning at 7:30am. Our students will proceed through all six periods across each of their first three days of school, allowing us the orientation time that is critical to a successful start. For more information pertaining to our Opening Week schedule, please see the below "Opening Notes" section.
Welcome Back Orientation: Tuesday, August 25th
Please keep our 2026 Orientation date in mind as you plan for next month. As in previous years, our Opening Orientation is a flexible, drop-in event. We’ll be open from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on that Tuesday afternoon, and you are welcome to stop by at any time during that window.
During Orientation, you’ll be able to:
- Take your 26/27 school picture
- Connect with student and family groups, clubs, and organizations
- Register for athletics
- Collect any needed supplies
- (tentative) Pick up your class schedule
- Tour the campus and preview your classroom locations
As noted above, we are aiming to have student class schedules ready for Orientation. That noted, there is a possibility that these will not be finalized and ready until later that week. As our Orientation date approaches, we will provide updates on the status of our student schedules as part of this year's Orientation.
Again, attendance is optional, as all essential back-to-school information and activities will be covered during Opening Week. That said, if you’d like to get a head start on the year, we’d love to see you at Orientation!

Back-to-School Shopping
We fully understand that many families are still enjoying summer and may not be thinking about back-to-school shopping just yet—and we certainly do not want to rush these valuable summer days. However, if you would like to get a head start on your preparations, please CLICK HERE to view our updated 2026/2027 School Supply List.
Please know that we are committed to ensuring every student has the supplies they need for a successful start to the school year. Thanks to the generosity of the Everett Public Schools Foundation, we have backpacks and school supplies available to support students and families who may need assistance. While our supply inventory is limited and not sufficient to provide personal supplies for every student, we are grateful to offer support where needed.
If back-to-school shopping is part of your plans in the coming weeks, we encourage you to use the above-linked supply list as a helpful guide.
Opening Notes:
As we move closer to the start of the 2026/2027 school year, we wanted to share a few additional details to help your family prepare for the return to school next month.
-
Opening Week Schedule: We will utilize a slightly modified version of our regular bell schedule during the first three days of school (September 2nd, 3rd, and 4th). The only adjustment is that we will not begin our advisory period, Den Time, until the second week of school. On Opening Day, Wednesday, September 2nd, students should report directly to their first period class at the normal arrival time. The first/welcome bell rings at 7:25am and first period begins shortly afterwar at 7:30am. During the first two days of school, we follow a structured, period-by-period orientation plan designed to help students become familiar with our school, staff, classes, routines, and one another. Our first Friday will focus on class-specific information, including course overviews, expectations, syllabi, technology platforms, and other important details. We will also host an all-school welcome activity to introduce students to their school Dens.
-
School Meals — Breakfast & Lunch: Evergreen provides free breakfast and lunch to all students. Many of our Timberwolves choose to eat school meals, although there is no expectation that students do so. Students are always welcome to bring lunch from home if they prefer. Because meal lines can occasionally take a few minutes, bringing lunch may provide a little additional time to eat. Families do not need to complete any pre-registration or payment process for school meals. Students simply enter their student ID number when accessing meal service and may choose to participate on any day and for any meal.
-
Chromebook Distribution: All students will receive a school-issued Chromebook during our opening days. The specific distribution date will be included in our Back-to-School communication in mid-August. As part of our opening-week orientation activities, students will learn about Chromebook use, care, and expectations. We ask that devices be charged each evening so students are prepared for learning the following day. If you have any questions about student technology, please do not hesitate to reach out as we are always happy to help.
-
Fall Diagnostic Assessments: During the first weeks of school, students will participate in our fall Reading and Math diagnostic assessments. These assessments provide important baseline information about each student's academic strengths and areas for growth, helping us tailor instruction and identify any needed support or intervention services. The exact dates of our fall diagnostics are to-be-determined and will be communicated as part of our back-to-school edition of Pack News. As with any assessment window, make-up opportunities will be provided for students who are absent during these forthcoming testing sessions.

Summertime FAQs
To help with back-to-school, below are a few frequently asked questions/answers related to opening next month.
When will my child receive their class schedule? Students/families will receive access to their 2026/27 class schedules during the week prior to our expected Opening Day on Wednesday, September 2nd. As noted above, we are working to have tentative student class schedules avaliable as part of our 8/25 Orientation. Student class schedules also be live via the Synergy ParentVUE platform. If you do not already have a ParentVUE account, please CLICK HERE to setup your account and home page.
Are backpacks required for all students? Yes. At Evergreen, we do not utilize lockers beyond PE. Backpacks are critical for carrying needed supplies/materials including Chromebooks and class specific folders. If your child needs a backpack for the coming year, please contact our office (phone or email) and we will quietly and happily connect with them to provide several middle school specific options.
What is the best way to meet/connect with each of my child's teachers? Teachers are always interested in connecting with families and two important opportunities in this regard occur shortly after the start of our school year. Please add our forthcoming Curriculum Night on your calendars for the evening of Thursday, September 17th (5:30pm). Additionally, our Fall Conferences are set to be scheduled once our EPS 2026/27 student calendar is finalized (will likely be set for early November). Both of these events built-in opportunities to connect with your child's teachers. That noted, we certainly applaud you reaching out to establish a connection early in the school year. Contact information for all of the members of our Evergreen Team is avaliable via our school website, specifically the Our Staff page.
Are cell phones, earbuds, headphones, and other forms of personal technology still not allowed at Evergreen? Absolutely - Per EPS Policy 3246 and Procedure 3246P, cell phones, Bluetooth earbuds/headphones, personal videogame consoles, and other forms of personal technology may not be out/in use during school hours. At Evergreen, students are required to power off and store any personal technology before entering our building. They are free to use these devices again after our 2:05pm dismissal bell (12:50pm on Fridays) as use is sometimes needed to coordinate after school transportation, etc. Please know that we strictly enforce these personal technology expectations as the absence of these devices is beneficial to our needed teaching/learning and social-emotional environment. Additionally, the absence of personal technology during school hours is critical to school safety and student wellbeing. Please look for specifics in our student and family handbooks (online with revised versions forthcoming this August).
Is there an optional/open school store for purchasing food during the school day? Evergreen does not have an everyday school store or avaliable vending machines. A store for PAWS tickets is avaliable during the midday break on specific days of the week but items are only avaliable through our PAWS ticket system an not cash/sale-based.
