Kimberly High School April 2025
Family Newsletter
April 2025
From the Principal
Hello Kimberly High School families,
Welcome to April! The weeks ahead will be buzzing with performances, club competitions, athletic events, and well-earned celebrations. With so much to look forward to, let’s also take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, all we’ve accomplished, and the exciting road still ahead.
With just two months left in the school year, this isn’t just about making it to the finish line—it’s about finishing strong. This is a crucial time for learning, growth, and making lasting memories. Keep pushing yourself, stay present, and take pride in your journey. I am incredibly proud of the dedication and progress I see in our students every day, and I am beyond grateful for the unwavering commitment of our staff.
As we step into this final stretch, let’s find joy in the moments we might otherwise overlook. It’s easy to take the everyday experiences at Kimberly for granted, but when I pause and reflect, I see something truly extraordinary. The support, teamwork, resilience, and success that define our school aren’t just coincidences—they’re the result of each and every one of you showing up, giving your best, and lifting each other up.
Thank you for making Kimberly the incredible place it is. May your April be filled with amazing, everyday moments—because sometimes, the “ordinary” is actually the most remarkable of all.
With great Papermaker Pride,
Mrs. DePeau
Principal

Forward Exam Testing Information
Wisconsin students in grade 10 will be participating in the Forward Exam this spring. This assessment is a social studies exam only. At Kimberly High School this testing will occur for sophomores on April 8th during our Career Planning Time. It is a digital assessment, and a school-issued device will be utilized for testing.
It is very important that your student be in school during this time. Students not in school on the scheduled testing day will be scheduled for a makeup test prior to the close of the testing window. Please make every effort to avoid scheduling appointments for your student during this time.
The results from state testing, along with local measures such as report cards, classroom assessments and teacher feedback, provide meaningful information about students’ academic achievement to parents, students, teachers and the school district.
Additional information about the Forward Exam can be found in this Informational Brochure for Families. If you have questions about the Forward Exam, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Kaaren Weyers

Student Drop Off and Pick Up
When dropping students off at the start of the day in the font of the school or picking them up in the front of the school at the end of the day please remember the following:
Please don’t utilize the left lane to pick up or drop off students. This will help with backups within the parking lot and create a safer environment.

Student Services
Triumph Program
The Triumph Program is a short-term (typically 9-12 weeks) mental health intervention for students in grades 9-12 from Kimberly, Kaukauna, and Little Chute High Schools. The Triumph program provides a balanced approach to address student mental health needs while supporting their academic progress. With a small academic class size, individualized therapy, daily group sessions, and focused academic support students are able to be fully supported and succeed. Students attend Triumph for a half day programming (Blocks 1 & 2 or Blocks 3 & 4) and Kimberly High School for the other half of their day. Triumph programming is offered free of charge for qualifying students in these districts. The Triumph program was established in January of 2017 and has served over 400 students. If you believe your student would benefit from the Triumph program, please reach out to your child's school counselor for more information.
Career Planning
As students wrap up career planning for the 2024-2025 school year, time was used to reflect on their accomplishments for the year and set goals for the upcoming school year. We would like to express our appreciation to local businesses, community members, and parents for supporting our students.
Assessments/Exams
The PSAT will be offered to the Class of 2027 - at KHS on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The PSAT may be a good choice if a student is planning on going to any out-of-state colleges and/or plans on taking the SAT. Students who are in the top 25% of their class are also encouraged to take the PSAT to compete for the Merit Scholarships. Some local scholarship programs also require a PSAT on the application and certain parents' places of employment require it for scholarships. Cost is $20.00. Fee waivers are available for the PSAT if needed. To register, students should mail payment in the form of a check made payable to Kimberly High School Student Services, 1662 East Kennedy Avenue, Kimberly WI 54136, made payable to KHS, by Friday, May 16, or students can drop a check off in the main office.
Testing Accommodations for the PSAT ~ If your student requires testing accommodations, please contact Carrie Raminger at craminger@kimberly.k12.wi.us
Note: Test materials will be ordered in advance so registering by May 16, 2025, will guarantee your student a testing spot.
Juniors/Seniors (who plan to play sports in college)
If you think that you might play sports at an NCAA Division I or II college, you must start by registering for a Certification account with the NCAA Eligibility Center. Colleges cannot give you athletic scholarships until you have completed this process and are cleared by the NCAA. Students who plan to play sports at Division III colleges do not have to do this. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Allison Baerenwald.
UW Placement Testing
Most University of Wisconsin System campuses require placement tests, typically taken in the spring before freshman year through the Regional Testing Program. Registration begins in mid-March, with testing dates offered throughout spring and summer. Students who miss this must arrange testing with their campus. Refer to your admissions letter or contact the campus for required tests. Please see placement testing information here.
Senior Recognition
Senior Awards Night
Senior Awards Night will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the KHS Auditorium. This event recognizes students who have received a local scholarship and will be presented by the gifting organization. Students who have a presenter for their award or scholarship will receive an invitation letter to attend, which will be sent two weeks prior to May 28th.
We understand there are other scholarships/awards that may not be presented in person. If your student has received a scholarship from a college or university or other outside scholarship committees, let us know by Friday, April 25th. These scholarships are not able to be recognized at Senior Awards Night due to time constraints, but will be included in the graduation program.

As a first-time SCDC competitor, Aubrey Ver Bockel, said “I learned many new skills that will continue to help me grow and improve throughout my experience with DECA and beyond high school. I am looking forward to new opportunities from competing at SCDC.” On the experienced member side, Connor Lindenberg, said “I had the incredible opportunity to build on my professional and speaking skills, network with others across the state, and learn important lessons like the importance of even small details. I cannot thank DECA enough for all the friends I've made and the growth I've seen in myself over my four years as a member.”

#FOODIES
Kimberly High School's #FOODIES club and the Kimberly Culinary Competition Team recently collaborated at the Kimberly Public Library for the annual Chopped competition.
The competition was for students in grades 6 through 12 to construct a winning quesadilla recipe for three judges to evaluate on taste, creativity, presentation, use of ingredients, and overall recipe. Culinary Educator and club Advisor, Olivia Koepke, was one of the three judges along with two other members of our community. It was a great way for Kimberly High School students to give back to their community by helping the competition run smoothly and assisting younger chefs in recipe development.
In September, students from our #FOODIES club also hosted a few staff members from the Kimberly Public Library to help make how-to videos on a few different recipes for smoothies. Videos are available on the Kimberly Public Libraries Facebook page along with all their events.
KHS Multicultural Club
