Piedmont USD - Week 3 Update >>>

August 1, 2026
Dear PUSD Families and Staff,
This summer the Board of Education met to discuss priorities for the school year, including the following areas of focus:
Investing in Outstanding Academics: Refining our use of data, updating assessment systems, updating math pathways and curriculum in grades 6-12, exploring enhanced writing curriculum and frameworks, supporting counseling services to balance student achievement and wellness, and improving our efforts to implement key competencies in our graduate profile.
Creating an Environment to Thrive: Auditing social-emotional learning instruction, parent and student educational programs related to social media use, reducing screen time in the classroom when it does not enhance learning, and continuing to explore ways to support positive fan conduct at athletic events.
Partnering Beyond the Classroom: Continuing to support off-campus learning experiences through field trips, continuing to enhance the use of the Alumni Network to bring back graduates for learning events, engaging our parent community for career learning experiences, and continued community engagement through community meetings. Community meetings will include the following: LCAP meetings, District Technology Meetings, Superintendent Advisory Meetings, DEIB meetings, Special Education Advisory Meetings, Facilities Steering Committee Meetings, and Budget Advisory Committee Meetings.
More information to follow later this month about these priorities. It is going to be a wonderful school year, and we look forward to seeing students and families on the first day of school. Welcome back!
With gratitude,
Jennifer Hawn, Ed.D.

Traffic & Safety Around Havens and on Magnolia Ave.
For students attending Havens or PHS, please be advised that the traffic flow around Havens, especially on Bonita Avenue may feel different due to the change to a one-way street on Bonita Avenue from Magnolia to Oakland Avenue. Please give yourselves extra time for drop-off at Havens or PHS.
Reserving Facilities from the City of Piedmont
If you are a parent or staff member who is interested in reserving a facility from the City of Piedmont, we have coordinated with City staff to create a new process. Why the change? In discussions with the City, we have agreed that we need to track our use of City facilities along with the City's use of our facilities. This effort will improve our ability to serve our families in a seamless manner.
Below is our new process:
Step 1: Discuss your reservation of a City facility with your school Principal.
Step 2: After, there will be an online form for you to complete, which goes to your Principal for approval.
Step 3: After your request is approved, you will be referred to the appropriate City staff member to coordinate the logistics.
We recognize this is a change from previous practice, and we are grateful for your patience while we develop this new process.
Spanish Teacher Needed - PMS
Parents, we have an unexpected vacancy in Spanish at PMS. Please see Principal Van Kleeck's message below regarding a Spanish teacher.
We are still looking for a Spanish teacher!
If you know anyone, have any leads, or maybe hold a credential yourself, please reach out to Jamie or Adam @ pmsprincipals@piedmont.k12.ca.us.
We are down to the wire but are remaining optimistic that with the help of the community we can solve this problem.
