Update for Parents/Caregivers of 2nd Grade Students:

Austin ISD has completed the 2nd grade Universal Screener, which gave all second graders the opportunity to take the Nonverbal portion of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). This test was provided in alignment with a new federal grant that Austin ISD won to improve representation in our Gifted and Talented (GT) population. Based on screener performance, students who showed a potential need for additional GT services have been notified. If you have other questions about the process or what happens next, please reach out to your campus GT Advocate.

Notificación para padres/cuidadores de estudiantes de segundo grado:

Austin ISD completó la prueba universal de segundo grado, que les dio a todos los estudiantes de segundo grado la oportunidad de tomar la parte no verbal de la prueba de habilidades cognitivas (CogAT). Esta prueba se proporcionó en alineación con una nueva subvención federal que ganó Austin ISD para mejorar la representación en nuestra población de Dotados y Talentosos (GT). Según el desempeño de la evaluación, se notificó a los estudiantes que mostraron una posible necesidad de servicios GT adicionales. * Student cell phones are not allowed on campus. If students are caught with them out, they will be picked up and placed in the office. Parents will need to pay $15 to retrieve them- students are not allowed to pick them up. Cellphones may be kept in the backpack during the day, but again cannot be used on campus.
