This Week at Haworth Secondary
Sept. 7th- Sept. 12th
Quick Highlights
Dear Haworth Families,
We have another busy week ahead at Haworth Secondary! Between athletics, FFA activities, the McCurtain County Free Fair, student organizations, and the everyday work happening in our classrooms, there are plenty of opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and represent our school.
This week, I want to challenge our students to think about something that makes a difference in everything they do: EFFORT.

β Students should stay on top of their AR goals. October 9 will be here quickly!
β Families attending athletic events or Fair activities should double-check schedules and locations before traveling.
β Food and beverages brought to students by a parent or guardian must be delivered to the Front Office or Cafeteria. For the safety and security of our students, parents and guardians may not deliver food or beverages directly to classrooms or students.
Third-party delivery services are not permitted. Deliveries from services such as DoorDash, Spark, or similar companies will not be accepted or delivered to students.
Attendance matters! Every day a student is at school is another opportunity to learn, connect, and grow.
π Principal's Corner
"Nothing will work unless you do." β Maya Angelou
One of the things I value most in our students isn't perfection, it's effort.
You may not always be the best athlete on the team. You may not understand every lesson the first time. You may not win every competition or get every answer right. But you always have a choice about how much effort you are willing to give.
Effort means showing up and giving your best, even when something is difficult.
In the classroom, effort looks like asking questions, completing your work, studying, and refusing to give up when something doesn't come easily.
On the field, effort looks like running that extra lap, encouraging your teammates, listening to your coaches, and competing until the very end. In other activities, effort means preparing, participating, learning new skills, and representing Haworth with pride.
And sometimes, effort simply means making the decision to try one more time.
Students, don't compare your effort to someone else's. Focus on what YOU are capable of giving.
You may surprise yourself when you stop worrying about being perfect and start focusing on being better. Parents, thank you for encouraging your children to work hard, persevere, and give their best. Those lessons will serve them long after they leave our classrooms.
This week, let's make a commitment:
Give your best. Work hard. Don't quit. Be proud of your effort.
Because at Haworth, we don't expect every student to be perfect. We expect them to try.
Make good choices. Take ownership. Be responsible. Show up. Have pride. Try. Be a Lion. ππ€
