CMAS Calendar
State testing (CMAS) is an important way to track student progress and improve instruction. CMAS stands for Colorado Measures of Academic Success. To support a smooth testing process, we kindly ask families to avoid scheduling appointments during testing days so students can complete their assessments.
Lesher has a strong tradition of success on CMAS, and we are confident our students will continue to excel. If you’d like to formally excuse your student from state testing, please do so as soon as possible through ParentVue to assist with planning. More details on opting out can be found here. We want our data to reflect our students, so please discuss as a family before deciding to opt out. Please let us know if you have any questions.

CMAS Brain Breaks!
This year, we want to reward both our students and staff for their hard work during the CMAS testing period.
Each day, students will have the opportunity to choose from two fun or relaxing activities to participate in during their lunch break. To make this possible and ensure our teachers also get a well-deserved break, we are seeking parent volunteers to help supervise students during this time. Please note that all volunteers must be registered PSD volunteers.
If you are available to help, please sign up here.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff,
Your Lesher PTO

Biking Vikings this Spring – how you can get involved!
As we prepare for warmer weather this Spring, we are “gearing up” our Bike Programming and have a few updates to our Biking Vikings program we would like to share with you. We would love your participation (and help, if you can)!
- “Bike Bus” routes to / from Lesher on Fridays in April and May - more information coming!
We have a handful of Lesher parents volunteering to lead groups of students on bike rides to Lesher before school and home from Lesher after school. Like a bus route, Bike Buses will travel along pre-determined bike-friendly routes to / from Lesher and meet students at specific bike stops at approximate times (+/- a few minutes). Students and parents can join the Bike Bus and bike with a parent volunteer to school. After school, volunteer parents will gather students on their bike route, leave Lesher by 2:35 (10 minutes after school lets out), and bike along the same route they took to school but in reverse. Bike Buses are planned to run on Fridays in April / May and every day during Bike Week.
Volunteer parents will have the option to attend a bike safety training led by Safe Routes to School. You can expect parents to have phones to contact families if any issues arise beyond their control. NOTE: This is put on by volunteer parents (not PSD led) and we will not share any student information.
If you are able to help lead a route, let us know! If you would like to join a route, stay tuned for more information. We hope to establish routes from the parents who can help and email them out to our Lesher community via Mr. Kotnik’s Friday newsletter in the end of March / early April.
2. Lesher’s 18th Annual Bike to School Week is May 4 - 8!
Mark your calendars: Lesher Bike Week is the first full week of May, May 4 - 8. We will have a week of bike activities before, during, and after school on every day of bike week! We have food before school, bike games during lunches, raffle prizes for participating (in the past we had bike accessories, gift cards donated from local businesses, and even bikes!), one-of-a-kind Bike Week t-shirts, and more. We would love any help we can get - your time, donations, bike connections or ideas, or bike things in usable condition (bike accessories, lights, bells, or even an old bike) - thanks in advance! Let us know if you would like to help or if you have any questions.
3. Lesher Bike Club
We hope to get a bike club going during April and May this year. The tentative plan is to meet on Mondays after school to ride and learn about bikes. Once we have a group together, we will see what we want to do and go from there! If you would like to be involved or have fun bike ideas, please let us know!
If you would like to volunteer or participate in any of these bike activities, reach out to Mr. Mayer (bmayer@psdschools.org) and / or Mr. Van Roekel (rvanroekel@psdschools.org). Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks, and go Vikings!

8th Grade Families!
Does your child play a fall sport or participate in an activity outside of school? We are beginning to compile an 8th grade video slideshow for the end-of-the-year celebration, which tries to feature every student as well as every school sport/club. Help make this year’s video amazing by submitting short ACTION VIDEOS (2-8 seconds long) to Ms. Thompson at juliat@psdschools.org ! You can also reach out to her with any questions about the slideshow. More details about the video montage in a few months!
Morning Fresh Cash for Caps Fundraiser

Please turn rinsed caps in to the box in the front office or to Mr. Mayer’s classroom (room 12). If you are interested in Morning Fresh Dairy, every new household sign up that mentions Lesher raises $25. Click here or ask Mr. Mayer (bmayer@psdschools.org) for more information.

PSD Engagement Norms
In an effort to foster a culture of mutual respect, effective communication, and quality customer service, PSD has created a set of norms for staff, family/guardian, and community engagement. These norms aim to set a positive tone for interactions between staff and parents and community members, whether they happen in person, over the phone, or in writing.
The norms will be posted in all PSD schools and include expectations that:
- Calls or emails that are not emergencies will be acknowledged within three school days.
- Appointments between the parties involved will be established as a norm for addressing concerns or discussing important matters through direct communication.
- Appointments will take place as soon as reasonably possible. Adequate time is needed for preparation and research before an appointment.
- Communication will focus on collaboration and understanding – respectful language and non-confrontational behavior from all parties are expected.
- Boundaries between personal and professional life will be maintained, and sensitive matters will not be addressed in community settings.
It’s important for everyone in our schools and in our communities to feel welcome and engage in mutual respect to best serve students.
