HCS ART NEWS!
SIGN UP FOR THE COCHRAN'S SKI & RIDE PROGRAM!
For: Hinesburg Community School students Grades 1 through 5 and Kindergartners if accompanied by an adult.
When: Thursdays, 2:30p.m. to 5:00p.m. (return to HCS by 5:30). Six weeks, January 8 - February 12, 2026 at Cochran's Ski Area in Richmond.
Cost: The total cost will be $80.00 per child. The Cochran's fee is $50.00 per student plus $30.00 for round trip bus transportation from HCS. For Cochran's season ticket holders, only the transportation charge of $30.00 is required. If you are driving your child to Cochran's from HCS, the cost is only $50. Please make checks payable to Hinesburg Community School and give to the front office before the start of the holiday break. Please put your child's name in the memo so we know who you have paid for.
Students who enroll in the program can continue skiing at Cochran's at no additional cost for the remainder of the ski season but please note: transportation and parent volunteers will not be provided after HCS's 6-week session ends on 2/12.
Rental Equipment: Ski (but not snowboard) equipment, including boots, may be rented for the duration of the HCS program from Cochran's for $20 (add to the total cost and include in the same check). If you are renting gear, you MUST bring your child into Cochran's for a rental fitting session before the program starts, anytime between 9am and 4pm. Parent volunteers will NOT do this for your child (they will have a whole group of other children to ski with) and if your child does not have their rental gear, they will have to sit out on the first day.
Volunteers: The After School Ski/Ride Program at Cochran's Ski Area is run by parents and other volunteers. Parents and volunteers coordinate the program as well as help out on the bus, on the slopes, and in the lodge. Both skier/snowboarder and non-skier/snowboarder volunteers are welcome. The success of the program is dependent upon it! Even if you don’t ski or snowboard, volunteers on foot are super helpful, especially in the beginning. Parents who volunteer can ski/ride free on Thursdays. To help, please sign up below.
Equipment drop-off: Parents will need to bring ski/riding equipment to school each Thursday and drop it off with Oren Guttman who will be in the lower HCS parking lot from 7:30am to 8:10am. Please do not bring ski/riding equipment on the bus to school. Please label each piece of equipment with child's name. Children are responsible for getting their gear back onto Oren's truck for return to HCS, so talk to them about managing their equipment.
Pick up: Parents must pick up their children at HCS by 5:30 p.m.
To register, please complete the Google form and send a check payment by the holiday break to the Hinesburg Community School Office. See above for payment/cost info.
With the exception of prioritizing the children of volunteers, registration is first-come/first-serve.
If the cost of the program is preventing you from enrolling your child/ren, please contact Laura at lauramatti7@gmail.com.

The Meadow Farms fundraiser is an exciting way for students, caregivers, family, and friends, both local and distant, to support Hinesburg Community School. It features a wide-ranging shopping catalog where nearly 50% of each sale goes directly back to the school! This initiative is designed to raise funds essential for providing a wide array of activities and programs accessible to all students. By participating, you directly contribute to enhancing the educational and extracurricular experiences of the entire student body.
The fundraiser runs from October 27th through November 17th. As in previous years, the entire process will be virtual. Sellers can log into their portal to share their store link with family and friends, and any prizes earned will be shipped directly to them.
FREE BOOKS FOR YOUR HOME LIBRARY
We invite families to stop by the breezeway at the front office to pick up free books for your home library. Reading at home helps build lifelong readers—feel free to take a few and enjoy!
