FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to Cedar Cliff High School! As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, we do so with tremendous pride in all that our students and staff accomplished last year. From being crowned State Baseball Champions to earning the title of National World Quest Champions, our Colts demonstrated excellence in every arena. We celebrated six National Merit Scholars and watched the Class of 2025 earn more than 1,662 college credits—all without ever leaving the walls of Cedar Cliff. These achievements reflect the hard work, talent, and dedication that define our school community. As we look ahead to a new year, we are filled with optimism and excitement for the opportunities to come. We can't wait to see what our students will achieve next!

New Start Time for School

This year, Period 1 will start at 7:30 AM. Our main entrance, cafeteria and stadium doors will open for students at 7:00 AM. Students can remain in the Concourse, Hero's Landing or cafeteria until the 7:15 bell. At that time, all doors will be open for students to enter the building. Students need to be in their Period 1 class by 7:30 AM. We do not have homerooms at Cedar Cliff.

Please remember that students can only be dropped off at the stadium entrance or in the back parking lot. The front entrance is for buses only.

Free and Reduced Lunch

This year, students will need to purchase their lunches. Fortunately, all students can have one free breakfast (served from 7:00 to 7:25 AM). If your family qualifies for Free and Reduced Lunches, please use this link to complete a form. The form then needs to be submitted to the main office at Cedar Cliff High School. If you have questions about Free and Reduced Lunch, please visit our district website for more information.

Cell Phones Use At Cedar Cliff

Many studies have shown that cell phones are a major distraction for students in schools. West Shore School District, along with Cedar Cliff High School, believe that students will be able to obtain all the information they need through their new iPads. Therefore, cell phones will no longer be allowed during class time.

Students may still use their cell phones during non instructional times, such as lunches and in between classes. During class time, cell phones cannot be out, so students either need to put them into classroom phone lockers or keep them in their backpacks.

Attendance

Student attendance to school and their classes is vital in order to get a good education. Please ensure that your child attends school regularly. They need to be in their first period class by 7:30 AM, so if they are walking or being dropped off, they should be at school no later than 7:20 AM. If they want breakfast, they need to be in school even earlier since breakfast will not be served after 7:25 AM.

Just like last year, student attendance, along with other factors, will determine if they are allowed to participate in extracurricular activities like dances and sporting events (as a spectator). In addition, students who are repeatedly late to school or to classes will receive disciplinary consequences.
