Hello Shoreham Community ,

It has been a fabulous first full week of school . Students have been working very hard at learning their daily routines and schedules as well as taking pride in their school community by lending a helping hand to each other as well as the adults.

This week it was also nice to see Shoreham students and families at MUMS enjoying the fabulous performance by Les Giraffes sponsored by the Playing Fields / Flynn Theater.

Lastly, I would like to bring your attention to our upcoming all school field trip on Friday , September 26th at Champlain Orchards. Please check your child’s folder for the permission slip and more information. If you have questions please reach out to Irene in the office at 802 897 - 7181.

Please remember:

1. If your child will be late or absent please call Irene in the main office.

2. Send your child with proper footwear for school (including sneakers for PE).

3. Students are not supervised outside / inside before 7:30 am.

4. If you are picking up your child at school please make sure to pick them up on the southern

side of the school NOT the northern side by the church.

5. Pick up students from the main entrance only

This week our students and teachers did an inventory of recess items and they noticed quite a few things were broken or gone and were wondering if folks in our community would be interested and willing to make a donation by purchasing items on the WISH LIST they came up with. We all are quite appreciative for whatever folks are able to contribute.

Dear Parents and/or Guardians of Shoreham Elementary School,

I hope everyone is having a good start to the school year. I am sending out these

reminders of when students need to stay home and when they can return to school after

being ill to help keep our school healthy.

Please keep your students home if they have any of the following:

● Fever of 100.4 or higher

● Vomiting

● Diarrhea

● Flu-like symptoms

● A rash of unknown origin

● Any other symptoms or illness that impede a students ability to learn

When your student can return to school after illness:

● Symptoms of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, should be resolved for at least 24

hours without medication before returning to school

● When symptoms of illness have improved and you feel well enough to be at

school or work

● If an antibiotic is warranted (such as for strep throat) the individual may return 24

hours after starting the antibiotic

General Healthy Tips & Reminders:

● Frequent hand washing

● Try to sleep for 8 hours a night

● Avoid touching your face

● Eat a well-balanced diet

● Vaccination

The 3rd-4th grade team played their first game in Rutland. Their next game is this Saturday at 10am in Rutland.
