SGB Month Ahead
February 2026
VALUE OF THE MONTH
Dear SGB Families,
Catholic Schools Week at SGB
St. Gregory Barbarigo didn’t let a snow day or delayed opening slow us down—Catholic Schools Week 2026 was a joyful celebration of faith, community, and school spirit!
We kicked off the week with an energetic school pep rally with the help of our SGB Cheerleaders, proudly highlighting what makes SGB such a special place. Throughout the week, students strengthened friendships and built community through fun and engaging activities including Rock–Paper–Scissors challenges, Granny Pants, Friendship Bracelet making, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Brain Breaks, Teacher TakeOver, Bagel Breakfast, Ice Cream Social, Buddy Activities, and an SGB Scavenger Hunt.
Most importantly, our celebrations were rooted in faith and prayer. Students participated in a beautiful prayer service on Tuesday, a Rosary led by 7th graders Nick and Carolyn, and a whole-school Mass on Friday. These moments reminded us who we are as a Catholic school family.
We wrapped up the week on Friday afternoon with a high-energy SGB DANCE PARTY, thanks to our very own DJ, Mrs. Vance, who had everyone on their feet and smiling.
What a wonderful way to celebrate our Catholic education and the incredible SGB community of students and teachers!
💙 Service Project: Blessing Bags
As part of Catholic Schools Week, SGB students created “Blessing Bags” filled with essential toiletries for individuals experiencing homelessness in New York City.
In partnership with Sr. Diane at Albertus Magnus, these items will be delivered during the high school’s annual Midnight Run, directly serving those in need. Thank you to our families for your generosity and continued commitment to teaching our students the importance of service, compassion, and giving back.
⛪ Archbishop Hicks Installation Mass
This Friday, February 6, we will officially welcome Archbishop Hicks as the new leader of the Archdiocese of New York at his Installation Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
SGB students created a spiritual bouquet filled with prayers and heartfelt messages for the Archbishop, which have already been sent and will be shared with him at the Mass. Representatives from parishes and schools across the Archdiocese will gather for this special occasion.
I am honored to be joined in representing SGB by Ms. Valicitie Rubino and her son, Greyson (Grade 3).
📝 Re-Enrollment for 2026–2027
Re-enrollment is now open for the 2026–2027 school year! Both current and new families may register to secure their child’s spot.
Please note that many grade levels are already solid and filling quickly, so early registration is strongly encouraged to ensure placement.
💳 Tuition Balance Reminder
This year, The Archdiocese of New York has updated its tuition policies. Families may no longer carry large outstanding balances as in previous years.
-
Students will be placed on financial suspension for families with large balances and will be unable to return to class until a payment or payment plan is in place.
-
Delinquent tuition significantly impacts our school’s financial stability.
We strongly encourage all families to enroll in auto-payment to avoid any interruptions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to support the continued success of SGB.
God bless,
Ms. Clarke
