Member Spotlight - Tori Smith
We are so thankful for the presence and dedication of Tori. Her strength, consistent involvement, and willingness to serve have made a lasting impact on both her peers and our church family. Whether she's helping lead an activity, lending a hand behind the scenes, or offering kind words of encouragement, she approaches everything she does with grace and heart. We are truly blessed to watch her grow in faith and character.
When she isn't volunteering at church or participating in a school activity you might find Tori at the Wagon Wheel, where she works part time.
VBS Volunteers Needed
Vacation Bible School is happening this week...August 5, 6 and 7. We are looking for volunteers, are you able to help? Our theme is "Rebuilding". We will be focusing on ways to help our neighbors "Rebuild" their lives after Hurricane Helene. From group leaders to VBS assistants, there is a job for you. Perhaps you want to help in the kitchen or help with recreation or crafts. To volunteer or find out more, contact Sharon H. Welsch. You can call/text her at 828-776-6099 or email her here.
Third Floor Dorms
Since the creation, work and opening of the 3rd floor dorm project, we have supported almost 30 groups/teams to help our greater community as we recover from Hurricane Helene. Our church has been able to provide these teams with places to sleep, showers, kitchens, meeting spaces and social places. What a blessing!
Wanda Kidd says that each team reports how friendly, inviting, and hospitable our church has been! Several teams have asked if they can stay longer if no one has reserved the space. Thank you, everyone, for making this happen!
Meals for the Mountains
This summer's "Meals for the Mountains" program has recently concluded. Wanda Kidd developed and organized this program and The Lord's Harvest partnered to make the weekly deliveries. The mission was simple...give food to families this summer. Around $36,000 was donated to the project. 10 different sites in Madison, Yancey and Buncombe counties were chosen and families could choose their own meals. Each meal included menus and recipes that were created from shelf stable food. Chicken nuggets was the most popular summer meal. Each family also received clothes and a gift card to help with back to school supplies!
Again, thanks to everyone who helped make this summer feeding program the success that it was!
Backpack Blessing
All students are invited to bring their backpack for "Blessing of the Backpacks" on Sunday, August 17. We will have prayers for the school year, students, teachers, and administration.
Ju"bell"ation Ringers
The Ju"bell"ation Ringers (our handbell group) are looking for two ringers for the upcoming year. Would you like to come and share your gifts with us? If you can count to four, we can teach you what to do. We meet on Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM. Please contact Sharon Welsch (828.776.6099) if you are interested. We would love to have you join us.
Madison County Arts Council
We have been excited to share our space recently with the Madison County Arts Council for some of their camps, including JAM (Junior Appalachian Music) and their summer theater camp. A member of the Madison County Arts Council summarized by saying, "We are truly grateful and appreciate you all being so community minded". Below is a picture from the theater camp.

Daily Devotional
Click here for the daily devotional experience.
d365 is a daily devotion written for youth and adults. The devotion follows a five-step format – Pause, Listen, Think, Pray, Go.
- The Pause step remains the same all week and is designed as a centering tool as you begin the devotion.
- The Listen step is the scripture passage for the day, using the Common English Bible translation.
- The Think step is the devotional thought by the week’s writer.
- The Pray step is the start of a prayer that you can expand into your own conversation with God.
- The Go step is a call to action – launching you from this moment toward acting on what you have heard.
