Flynn Families,
Starting tomorrow, we begin our required state “count.” Schools receive funding based on the number of students in attendance, and students are counted only if they attend during the state’s official count window: September 24 – October 8. If a student misses too many days during this period (according to the state’s attendance algorithm), Flynn loses a portion of the funds we receive. These funds are critical for everything from building upkeep to purchasing instructional materials.
We always encourage regular attendance, but it is especially important during this window.
To make attendance fun, we are holding Spirit Week next week! The three classes with the best attendance during the count window will earn a pizza party, and any class with perfect attendance on October 1 (the most important count day) will receive an ice cream party 🍦🍕.
Thank you for prioritizing your child’s attendance. Your support helps ensure that every possible dollar makes it to Flynn, directly benefiting both your student and our entire school community. If you have questions about school finance, attendance, or our budget, Flynn hosts a parent budget meeting during second semester specifically for parent feedback, and I will share those details with you when the date is set.
