Message from District Office
As part of the Rose Tree Media School District’s strategic planning process, we are updating our mission and vision statements to reflect the values and aspirations of our community. Your voice is essential in this work.
We invite staff, parents, and guardians to complete a brief Google Form to share your perspectives on what makes our district unique, what experiences every student should have each day, and what qualities we hope to see in our graduates. Your input will directly inform the development of mission and vision statements that guide our work now and in the future. Please take a few minutes to complete the Google Form here: RTMSD Mission & Vision
Thank you for partnering with us to shape the future of Rose Tree Media School District.
Glenwood Happenings
4th Grade Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work / School Day
The 4th graders celebrated Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work/School Day on Wednesday, October 8th. The students brought teddy bears or stuffed animals to school, and their parents brought teddy bears/stuffed animals with them to work. Students and parents exchanged pictures throughout the day. Students gained knowledge about various career paths and enjoyed seeing what their parents do while they are at school. Dr. Meloche (Superintendent), Dr. Coonradt (Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction), and Ms. Loveland-Smith (Supervisor of Curriculum & Instruction) visited 4th grade classrooms to read their favorite books as special guest readers.

STUDENTS: Students may choose to bring a costume for the parade but it is not required.
COSTUME GUIDELINES - If your child wishes to wear a costume, please adhere to the following:
AM & PM Kindergarten students should come to school dressed in costume
First through Fifth Grade children bring his/her costume to school in a bag
Children’s costumes must be of a nonviolent nature appropriate for a school setting
Students are not permitted to carry any item that could be characterized as a prop weapon (grim reaper’s staff, sword, pitchfork, nerf gun, etc.
Students should be able to put their costumes on independently in their classroom
Please limit face make-up since we have a limited amount of time to support the students
We request that students do not wear inflatable costumes, as they can be very challenging to maneuver through stairs and hallways
Caution your student about the safety factors involved in getting on or off a bus or walking home while carrying their costume
Children are not permitted to go home at lunch to get dressed
DISMISSAL: If you plan to take your child with you after the parade, complete the Dismissal Form that will be sent out in eNews the week prior. ONE adult will be permitted into the building to pick up your student. (Please no strollers in the building.) We ask that you walk to your child’s classroom and sign them out with their homeroom teacher. NOTE: We need to get buses on campus for dismissal so we ask that all visitors leave as quickly as possible.
PM-Kindergarten will dismiss from the kindergarten playground.
1st grade - Please proceed down the hill towards the mods to enter the first grade hallway
2nd grade & 3rd grade (classrooms on primary wing) - Enter through the front door
3rd, 4th & 5th grades - Use the door from the playground to enter the building
In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be moved indoors.
Thank you for your support in making this a fun and safe event for our school community!
Alternative Celebrations
For those who do not wish to participate in the parade or classroom parties there will be alternative fun offered! Past activities have included DIY Lava Lamps, festive fall crafts, sand art and games. Please be sure to fill out the survey to let us know if your student would like to participate in the alternative activities so that we can plan accordingly! Fall & Halloween Alternate Activity Form
Picture Retakes
Yesterday, all students should have had their picture taken for the yearbook. We opted for a PROOF program, which will allow you to view a proof of your child before you purchase. Ordering information will accompany your child's proof.
If your child was absent or you are not pleased with their original photo, picture retakes will be held on Tuesday October 28th.
Questions? Call 1.800.220.7667 or barksdalephoto.com.
Family Discount: If using the family plan, and the elementary student would be the third free package, call customer service at 800-220-7667. Since the high school and middle school are prepay sale and Glenwood is a proof, you could place the order for all 3 students at the same time.
