Recent US Supreme Court Decision on Immigration Enforcemen

The safety and wellbeing of every student remains our highest priority. In light of the recent Supreme Court decision lifting restrictions on immigration enforcement actions in the Los Angeles area, we want to reaffirm: every student is welcome and safe in our schools, regardless of immigration status.

District policy is clear – immigration enforcement agents are not allowed on our campus without proper legal authorization. All staff are trained to follow strict protocols to protect student privacy and maintain safe learning environments.

We are also working closely with city leaders and community partners to strengthen safety measures, ensure clear communication, and respond quickly if enforcement activity occurs near schools.

Resources are available at www.lausd.org/weareone, including Know Your Rights materials, legal referrals, and mental health resources. Families with any concerns are encouraged to contact their school administrator or call our Family Hotline directly at (213) 443-1300.

Los Angeles Unified stands united in protecting our students and families. Together, we will continue to uphold the values of equity, inclusion, and respect that define our school communities.

Weekly Update Weekly Update

🔊 Recent US Supreme Court Decision on Immigration Enforcement

As you are likely aware, the US Supreme Court recently decided that DHS could continue immigration enforcement activity based on their existing criteria. We anticipate that this may lead to an increase in enforcement activity in the area of the District, and that of course this may impact our families.

🔊 SB98 SAFE Act-Notification to Families regarding Immigration Enforcement

The District is closely monitoring SB98, the SAFE Act, which requires schools to send alerts about immigration enforcement. It has been enrolled and was presented to Governor Newsom on September 9, 2025. The District is already in compliance with SB98 through the response protocols that were developed and implemented through School Operations. Thank you for ensuring all students and families are safe on our campuses throughout the District.

🔊 Reporting Immigration Enforcement Activity Near our Campus

If you observe any immigration enforcement activity near our campus, please continue to report it immediately with the following details, if you have them available:

  • Location and Distance: Approximate distance from the school and exact location (e.g., “2 blocks north of the main entrance, near [street/intersection]”).

  • Description of Activity: What was occurring? (e.g., officers speaking to individuals, vehicles present, detentions, etc.)

  • Time and Date: When the activity was observed.

  • Any Additional Details: Vehicle markings, number of officers, uniforms, or any other relevant observations.

This information is critical for ensuring the safety and awareness of our school community.
