What's Happening This Week?
Happy Sunday! This week we are wrapping up lessons as we get ready for Thanksgiving break. 1st grade, 5th grade and Pre-K also have field trips this week and we will end the week with our November Brag Parade on Friday. We're thankful for the opportunity to help our students to learn and grow each day. Thank you families for your support and trust! We hope that you're following our Facebook page to see the good things that are happening each day at South Fork Elementary. Try good things with your family over the break. Start each day by sharing something good with each other. When we look for the good, we can help to start our day on a positive note. It's a great week to be a Bronco at South Fork Elementary!

Broncos Read and Grow-BRAG!
How are we supporting all students?
During the day, we have multiple ways that we are supporting students. We have small groups in class for ELA and Math, we have small groups in lab and intervention groups also happening. We are all in to help everyone of our Broncos grow this year! This is why it's so important that students are at school all day and on time unless they are sick and have a doctor's note. We need them here to be able to teach and support them.

Important Note About Student Absences
It's important that students are at school on time each day, all day. Remember that any absences mean that your child is missing classroom teaching and learning even if they are excused. We need students at school to be sure they get to learn and participate in all lessons. Any tardies and checkouts, even those with excuses result in lost learning time. Please limit checkouts to only those times that are necessary. Tardy students miss class time and that makes their learning harder. Students who miss more than 10 unexcused absences will not promote to the next grade. Please turn in all Doctor's notes when students return after being out.
Doctor's excuses can be emailed to kimberly.levy@lpsb.org OR faxed to 225-664-2282.
Please expect that we will be monitoring checkouts and absences and will be talking with parents about check outs and absences throughout the year. This includes emails, letters and notices as students begin to have increased absences, tardies, and checkouts. Excessive absences and tardies will be referred to FINS and could result in a home visit. We know that you want your child to achieve to their fullest potential and by working together, we can be sure they have the best chance to do their best.

Car Pool Information
Car pool parents,
We need your help to make car pool go smoothly and to keep it safe. Do not line up in car line before 7:00 and 3:00. If you line up before the line is moving, it creates a dangerous situation with cars backed up on the road. If you are in line early, we will ask you to leave campus and return on time. This does not mean to go park in the parking lot and wait. Just trust us, if you get in line at the right time, it gets moving and there's not a hold up. Please help us in the car line each morning and afternoon by pulling up and not leaving big gaps in between cars. This keeps cars off the road. You do not have to leave the front driveways open BUT when a bus approaches, stop so the buses can enter and exit the main drive by the office. Please remember that our whole campus is a no smoking zone and that includes your car in car pool. Please do not go around other cars in line and be alert. A duty teacher will designate the last car that will be unloaded before the bell. All other cars arriving after that last car must go back around to the front, park and walk your student into the office to check them in. Duty teachers can't stay out past the bell as they have to get inside to their students. Thanks for your understanding!
