E. Roy Bixby Elementary School

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Students should report to school by 8:30 A.M everyday. On the first two days of school (September 4th and September 5th), students will line up in the courtyard, weather permitting. Drop off and Dismissal procedures are listed below.

Preschool students should be dropped off using the door on Chestnut Avenue.Due to grant funding any preschool students who must be dropped off earlier than 8:30 should register with the before care program, Alphabest.

Any students who are in the Alphabest program should be dropped off and picked up using the entrance on Chestnut Avenue.

Students in grades kindergarten through 2nd can be dropped off using the main office entrance on Fisher Ave. The Breakfast program begins at 7:40 and is for students who are eating breakfast at school. For the safety and smooth flow of traffic during student drop-off, students who are able to independently exit the vehicle may be dropped off in front of the entrance on Fisher Ave. However, parking and exiting your vehicle in this area is prohibited.

If you wish to accompany your child to the door or if your child needs assistance exiting the vehicle, please park in a designated, legal parking spot. Do not stop or park in front of the entrance. The local police department will be monitoring this area closely.

Preschool student pickup is at 2:30. Preschool students should be picked up using the door on Chestnut Ave. Students in grades kindergarten through 2nd grade should be picked up by 2:55. Students will be picked up at the following locations:

• Kindergarten students can be picked up using the door on Chestnut Ave.

• 1st grade students can be picked up using the main entrance door on Fisher Ave.

• 2nd grade students can be picked up using the courtyard gate entrance on Chestnut Ave.

Lastly, The Bogota Police Department and Bogota Public Schools have worked side by side during the summer to create more or maintain safety around the schools. Starting on September 4, 2025, during school hours and on a trial basis, to assist with traffic safety, pedestrian safety and to make the school area move more freely during school pick up and drop off time, there will be a new temporary traffic pattern as pictured. Maplewood Ave will be a One-Way going towards Queen Anne Rd from Palisade Ave. Chestnut Ave will be a One-Way going towards Palisade Ave from Queen Anne Rd. All parents and residents are asked to remember to park legally and not in crosswalks or within 50ft of stop signs. We will have officers on scene to assist with directing traffic during the school days. Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure a smooth drop off and pick up!

Morning Drop Off

If you signed up for the Bixby Courtesy Bussing, please arrive at Steen School starting tomorrow (main entrance) at 7:50 AM. Parents will be required to check their child in with the bus aide before leaving. The bus will leave at 7:55 AM sharp. If you are not signed in by 7:55 AM, you will not be able to take the bus that day. If you signed up for the bus, you were automatically added to the bus list.

Dismissal

Students taking the courtesy shuttle bus to Steen will leave Bixby and arrive at Steen at 3:05 PM (gym entrance on Orchard Terrace). Parents may pick their children up there. If you signed up for the bus, you were automatically added to the bus list.

If you signed up for PM busing and your child will not be taking the bus on any given day, you MUST call the main office (201-441-4834) to have them removed for that day. If the main office is not made aware, your child will be sent on the bus to Steen.

If you plan to order school breakfast or school lunch, please take the time to complete the pre order google form. Each week a new form will be shared with families to complete. If you qualify for free and reduced lunch, please be sure to complete the meal application for the 2025-2026 school year.
