If you are parking on the west side of the building to walk your child to the building, please watch for pedestrians as others are dropping their child off as well. We want to keep everyone safe.

Swartz Drop Off & Pick Up Swartz Drop Off & Pick Up

With the colder weather and snow piled up, drop off and pick up at Swartz can be more challenging. Please follow the guidelines below to keep drop off/pick up running smoothly.

  • Pull up as far as you can to allow multiple cars to unload at one time. Cones will be out for the last few parking spaces to help with this.
  • Stay in single line (no double rows).
  • Use Monterey to proceed to the line. Do not turn down Elder and turn around in a resident's driveway.
  • Drive the speed limit when driving on Monterey and any streets around the school.
  • Do not park on the east side of the building. This can be very dangerous, it blocks traffic and slows down the line.
  • Do not wait and watch your child enter the building. If you need to watch your child enter the building, please park on the west side of the building and walk your child to the front entrance. We have a supervisor on duty from 7:30-7:40 am.

Each ticket is a base! The fourth week, students score a "HOME RUN" and earn their free ticket to the game on May 14th during school hours!

Meet Miss Nykiel

Hello! My name is Miss Kayla Nykiel and I am one of the 4th grade teachers. This is my 5th year teaching at Swartz and my 1st year in the classroom. Before teaching 4th grade, I taught Special Education for 4 years. I went to Lewis University to complete my undergrad and double majored in Elementary and Special Education. I am looking into going back for my Masters in the Fall. I love teaching because I love seeing my students get excited when they learn and understand something new. I love preparing my students for the rest of their school years and life. When I am not teaching, I love to read, go for walks, travel, and craft. My favorite thing to do in the summer is to lay on a beach near the water and relax or travel to different places to learn about their culture/explore. I have been to many places including Poland, Prague, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and hope to go to many other places soon, one being Greece! I can not wait to see what the future holds and how many more students I am able to get to love learning!

Standard Response Protocol

Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.

Ann Noll - 4th Grade Teacher (SMS)

Ann is an all around amazing person. Not only is she an amazing and dedicated teacher, she is a caring, nice, kind, and loving teammate. Ann cares about all of her students and will try everything and anything to help all of her students learn and be successful. She always is the first one to jump in and help anyone that needs help, especially me. Joining her this year on the 4th Grade Team has been a blessing because of her. She helps me become a better teacher and I truly enjoy going to work because I know she is there to support and help me in anyway I need.

zoom_out_map

Nicole Williams - STEM Teacher (SC & SMS)

Tonight was the 4th grade band's first concert. I was there watching my kiddo and to my surprise I noticed Mrs. Williams was in attendance. I said hello and asked what brought her out tonight. She said several of the 4th grade band students really wanted her to come so she was there to see them perform. It was so kind of her to take the time (away from her family!) to support her students.

zoom_out_map

Gianna Grippo - SPED Teacher (SMS)

Gianna is an amazing teacher. She truly cares about her students and will do anything to make sure they are learning. Gianna goes above and beyond to make learning fun and all of her students look forward to going to her classroom to learn. Gianna is there for everyone and helps out without being asked. I look forward to going to work knowing I have an amazing, knowledgeable colleague to help out if I need anything.
