Dear Decatur Virtual Family,
The window to sign up for DVA by choice next year is now open. All current DVA students must complete the form if they would like to return next year. Once you have completed the contract, I will schedule a meeting to discuss the details of the 2025-26 school year. Families must participate in the intake appointment to attend DVA. The window to sign up will be closed on June 1, 2025. All intake appointments must be held by June 15th. Anyone currently in DVA who does not complete the form and meet with me by June 15th will have to return to the building for the 2025-26 school year. The link to the sign up form and online contract is below.

Students who have IEPs must also have an IEP team meeting to discuss how services will be provided online.

As there continue to be challenges with the FAFSA for financial aid, the Georgia Student Finance Commission's (GSFC) state scholarship application, specifically designed for students to apply for the Zell Miller and the HOPE Scholarships should be completed by any student planning on attending college in the state of Georgia and wants to be evaluated for HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility.
The Georgia Student Finance Application, or GSFApp, is the best alternative for Georgia high school students seeking HOPE/Zell. The GSFApp offers a short application process that is specifically tailored to the requirements of the Zell Miller and HOPE Scholarships. It remains valid for ten years and can be done in addition to the FAFSA. THIS DOES NOT REPLACE THE FAFSA, this allows you to get the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship without having to wait for FAFSA to work out their challenges.
The GSFApp simplifies the application process by focusing on key eligibility criteria, including academic achievement and residency status, while bypassing the detailed financial information required by FAFSA. By encouraging students to utilize the GSFApp, colleges can ensure their state scholarship is in place while the FAFSA is processed. YOU SHOULD STILL COMPLETE THE FAFSA.
