The Peotone Music Program News

To enhance communication with parents, staff, and anyone involved in Peotone School District's Fine Arts, we are continuing the music program newsletter!!! These weekly posts (usually on Sundays) will update you on classes, rehearsals, performances, and other important music program news. The music department is so excited to be back for the 2024-2025 school year! The Music Program has some new and returning faces. From left to right we have:

Mr. Deweese- PES Music Director

Mr. Kowalski - PIC, Junior High, and High School Band Director

Ms. Marshall- Junior High and High School Choir Director, Show Choir Director

Mr. Stefans- PIC General Music and Art Teacher, PIC Band Co-Director

We can't wait to get to know your students and to go out an make some great music this year!

The students are ready to make some music! In order from top to bottom we have the 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th and 8th grade, and lastly the High School Band.

1) Thank you to all of the choir students who have shown me a warm welcome during the first week of school. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be your teacher and look forward to wonderful and meaningful singing together this year! I look forward to meeting as many parents as possible at Open House this week!

3) All choir students need to join their Choir Google Classroom page. Codes were shared in class on Friday last week but I will share the codes again next week for those who still need the code. Choir concerts and events will be posted on their Choir Google Classroom page soon so please be on the lookout for that information!

We look forward to meeting you at the open house events for both the Junior High and High School!

With both Ms. Marshall and I being hired within the last month, we are still working on finalizing and getting dates approved for the upcoming school year. We will provide you with the dates as soon as we are able.

Reminder that this week, that 5th grade band students are meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday!

A special thanks to Mrs. Tekiela, Ms. Harden, Mr. Stefans, Mrs. Haag and any other teacher or driver that helped get the 5th grade band off and running. Without your guidance and support this program would not be possible!

The Fine Arts Booster is already off and running with some great ideas for the upcoming school year!

1) Spirit Wear: Available starting next week during the Open House

2) Kick of the Year Booster Meeting: Invitation to new parents interested in joining or learning about the Boosters

3) Chili Cookoff: Held at Peotone Bowling Alley from 12-3 p.m. If you are interested in signing up or have any questions about any of the events listed please reach out to peotonefab@gmail.com.
