Monday Message/El mensaje del lunes

Dear La Escuela Fratney families,

This is Ms. Grace with your weekly Monday message. December will be a very exciting month at our school, with many learning opportunities and special events for students. Please take a close look at our December calendar, as the first week alone includes several important field trips: 3rd grade visits to the Urban Ecology Center and the Milwaukee Art Museum, 6th grade’s Urban Ecology Center trip, and 5th grade’s Junior Achievement BizTown experience. All of these trips are essential parts of student learning, and each child is expected to and must have a signed permission slip in order to participate. We will have a parent meeting this Wednesday at 5 pm to finish planning our December movie night. All families are welcome. Throughout December, we will also be conducting important Spanish literacy assessments and English language learner testing. It is especially important that your child is present and arrives on time each day so they are able to complete their assessments successfully. There are always many ways to get involved in our school community—chaperoning a field trip, helping in the lunchroom, attending the monthly parent meetings, or SEC meeting, and much more. We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to a wonderful month ahead.

Estimadas familias de La Escuela Fratney:

Diciembre será un mes muy emocionante en nuestra escuela, con muchas oportunidades de aprendizaje y eventos especiales para los estudiantes. Por favor revisen con atención nuestro calendario de diciembre, ya que solo en la primera semana tendremos varios viajes educativos importantes: las visitas de 3.º grado al Urban Ecology Center y al Museo de Arte de Milwaukee, el viaje de 6.º grado al Urban Ecology Center, y la experiencia de 5.º grado en Junior Achievement BizTown. Todos estos viajes son parte esencial del aprendizaje, y cada estudiante debe tener un permiso firmado para poder participar. Durante todo el mes de diciembre también estaremos llevando a cabo evaluaciones importantes de alfabetización en español y pruebas para estudiantes aprendices del inglés. Es especialmente importante que su hijo/a esté presente y llegue a tiempo cada día para que pueda completar sus evaluaciones con éxito. Siempre hay muchas maneras de involucrarse en nuestra comunidad escolar: acompañar un viaje educativo, ayudar en el comedor, asistir a una reunión de padres o a una reunión del SEC, y mucho más. Agradecemos su colaboración y esperamos con entusiasmo un mes maravilloso.

Mental health and the role of therapy are often misunderstood. Parents and family members can attend a webinar to learn about the benefits of therapy and how to support children.

There will be one calendar for the whole district again this year. Please review this calendar before making plans for trips or vacations. Students must be in school 95% of the time or more which means they can only miss 1 day a month the whole school year. Students who miss more than 10 days of school a year fall behind academically and socially. Make a plan now to be in school every day on time.
