"It's a great day to be a Panther"
News & Notes from the Principal
Happy Friday Panther families! It was a short, but busy week here in the middle school.
Teachers are contacting you when your child needs to redo a Summative Assignment (test, quiz, project, presentation, essay, etc.). Students have two weeks to redo those assignments and teachers will inform you when your child can do that. We offer before school options, after school options, Flex time options, and sometimes during class options. Those details will be communicated with you through the teacher. The goal of this process and policy is to help your child master the content, keep you informed about your child's progress, and give them multiple opportunities to show what they have learned. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions.
As the seasons change and we get into the cold time of the year, please contact the attendance line, (269) 623-1540, if your child will not be at school. For an absence to be excused, we will need documentation from a doctor, dentist, therapist (mental or physical), etc. If you forgot to turn in that documentation, we will still accept it after the fact. If you have more questions please contact the middle school office.
We will continue our Thanksgiving Drive through Wednesday November 19th. All proceeds will go to local Delton families to help provide holiday meals, winter clothing, and other essential needs. Students can turn in money in the cafeteria by placing it in the jar with their P7 teacher's name on it. The P7 class that raises the most money will win either an ice cream or hot chocolate party.
As always, I want to thank our students, staff, families, and community for their hard work and support. I have been truly impressed by everyone's patience and flexibility with the many changes we have made in the building this year. If there are ever any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Have a great weekend!
It's a great day to be a Panther!!!
Thank you,

Building, Battling, and Programming at STARBASE!
This week at STARBASE, our 5th graders put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work! Students programmed Sphero robots, practiced using coordinate grids, engineered bridges to test their strength, and even battled Battle Bots. It was a fun week of hands-on learning and teamwork at STARBASE Battle Creek!
6th Graders Study Plate Tectonics
Mrs. SanInocencio’s 6th grade Science classes have been exploring plate tectonics—how Earth’s plates move and how volcanoes, earthquakes, and other forces shape our planet. Students showed off their creativity by designing interactive games, display boards, and models to explain what they’ve learned. These hands-on projects were the final step in a learning process that began with the scientific method, leading up to exciting class presentations where students shared their work and discoveries.
In addition to learning science, students also practiced important speaking and listening skills as they presented their projects and engaged with their classmates’ ideas.
Investigating Heat Transfer
Mr. Phillips’ Science classes have been busy learning about thermal energy! Students experimented by heating ice cubes and measuring temperature changes to see how adding or removing heat affects matter.
