Join us! We are looking for parents and community members who have an interest in expanding our school district’s impact on our students’ understanding and appreciation for diversity. Arlington Heights School District 25 is fortunate to have a growing student population. We are excited to be in Arlington Heights at a time that we are experiencing growth in our diversity. Currently, students speak 45 languages other than English as their primary language.

District 25 wants to celebrate, honor, and appreciate all of the uniqueness in our student population. We want to teach our students to connect with each other and learn from each other.

If you have ideas on how we can better expose our students to the wonderful diversity around them, please join us for a brainstorming session on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 7:00 pm -8:30 pm at the District Administration Center.

If you would like to continue to receive emails about this team and our work, please submit your information HERE.

Read below for an update on e-learning days in District 25.

This past summer, Governor Pritzker signed a bill that gives Illinois public school districts the opportunity to use E-Learning Days in lieu of Emergency Days. Basically, school districts that go through an approval process can have students and staff work from home on days that we close for snow or inclement weather. Therefore, the days do not need to be made up at the end of the school year.

Currently, most school districts around us are NOT planning to utilize E-Learning Days because there are some requirements that we believe are not beneficial for our students. For example, we must demonstrate that students are engaged in school assignments for 5 hours on an E-Learning Day. That is a lot to expect from our students and families. We, also, must provide support services via electronic means for students who otherwise would get these services directly from a teacher, social worker, etc.

Currently, District 25 is continuing to investigate if E-Learning opportunities would best support our students and staff. If we choose to offer E-Learning Days, we would host a public hearing to seek community input, and ask our Board of Education for approval. Currently, if we need to close school unexpectedly, we would need to make the day up with one of the Emergency Days scheduled in June.

We will share updated information with you if there are any changes to our procedures.

TRAFFIC PATTERNS

Officer Rick Veenstra from the Arlington Heights Police Department is the School Resource Officer for each one of our District 25 schools. Officer Veenstra sent us a letter informing us of a couple of safety reminders that will keep traffic moving efficiently and more importantly, keep our kids safe.

PARENT INFORMATION FROM STUDENT SERVICES

School personnel who provide related services to students are required to maintain written logs that contain the service provided, as well as the date and number of minutes administered. These related service logs must be provided to parents/guardians during the student’s annual review IEP meeting and also anytime upon request. These service logs are considered part of a student’s temporary record.
