Eggs-citing Days Ahead!

We are excited to welcome chickens to the East Lynne 40 District as part of our new chicken coop project! We know this hands-on learning opportunity will give students a unique way to connect classroom learning with real-life experiences. This project will not only encourage responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of daily routines, but will allow our students to explore science concepts such as life cycles, habitats, nutrition, and animal care. In addition, this project supports important life skills such as problem-solving, cooperation, and stewardship. We know our students will take pride in caring for the chickens and contributing to something that benefits our entire school community.

We look forward to the learning, growth, and excitement this project will bring as we continue to create engaging, real-world experiences for our students!

Blue Springs School of Economics

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students leave today to participate in an exciting, hands-on learning experience at the Blue Springs School of Economics! This real-world simulation gives students the opportunity to step into adult roles as employees, business owners, and consumers within a fully functioning “city.” It is the kind of field trip where they actually complete tasks and assignments before they actually even leave for their adventure. Throughout the day, students applied important skills in math, economics, communication, and decision-making. They learned how to manage a budget, earn and spend money, and make thoughtful financial choices. In addition, students practiced teamwork, problem-solving, and responsibility as they worked their assigned jobs and interacted with others in the community.

This experience truly brings classroom learning to life in a meaningful way and helps students see the connection between what they learn at school and the real world. We are excited for our students to grow in confidence and gain valuable life skills through this unique opportunity!

Our PreK students made the most of the beautiful weather by creating and flying their own kites!

After designing and building their kites, students headed outside to test them in the perfect breeze.

It was a simple and FUN hands-on learning activity—and a great reminder that some of the best lessons happen outside!

The Eggs Have Arrived!

The eggs have arrived! These kinders are SO excited! They got to see the air pocket inside of the egg and the embryo was super active!

Easter Egg Hunt = Family Fun

Our STUCO organized an Easter Egg Hunt and hosted the BIG BUNNY himself! It was a family fun morning that included tattoos, snacks, pictures with the Easter Bunny and plenty of eggs for everyone! Thank you STUCO and Mrs. Schroeder for helping to organize this event for our students and their family.

TOUCH a TRUCK

In March our Parents As Teachers hosted a Touch a Truck Event. Thank you to Cass County Sherriff's Department, East Lynne Fire Station and MODOT for sharing your time and cool trucks. Thanks also to the Cass County Library (not pictured) for bringing out the mobile library. Events like this are a wonderful reminder of the strong partnerships within our community and the many people who help support and inspire our students from the very beginning.
