We've Been Busy!
What a busy and exciting fall we have had at DLB Elementary! From school-wide celebrations and hands-on learning experiences to building relationships and celebrating student achievements, our Lakers have been making memories. Thank you for your continued support and for being such an important part of our school community!
Kindergarten Meet and Greet – September 18
Our kindergarten students and families joined us for a fun morning of connection. We reviewed school expectations, shared information about Title and Intervention services, enjoyed donuts, and played math games together. It was wonderful to see parents spending time learning and playing alongside their children and other kindergarten families. Thank you to everyone who was able to take time away from work to join us!
House Huddles Are Underway!
On September 18, we kicked off our House Huddles! These small groups of 10–12 students, led by different teachers, provide opportunities for students to get to know others across grade levels and build relationships throughout the year. Through shared activities and experiences, we are working to strengthen connections, school pride, and our sense of belonging. Huddles meet every few weeks and we will do activities to build relationships within the huddles, as well as celebrate different Holidays. We look forward to seeing these relationships grow within the groups.
First Grade Ag Day – September 24
Our first graders enjoyed a half-day field trip to Ag Day at the NDSU Extension Center. Students explored crops, soils, gardening, and farm animals through hands-on learning experiences. It was a fun way to connect classroom learning to the important role agriculture plays in our communities!
Student Council Assembly – September 25
Our first Student Council assembly was full of Laker spirit! Students were introduced to this year's Student Council representatives, our Star Lakers were recognized, and students participated in games with their grade-level peers. We are excited to see our student leaders grow and help make DLB Elementary an even better place! Congratulations to the Star Lakers for respect -

Preschool Pumpkin Patch Adventures – September 30 and October 1
Our preschool students enjoyed a fall trip to the pumpkin patch. They got to ride to the patch on a bus, enjoy the patch activities, and the weather cooperated for their half day. Thanks to the parents who volunteered to join them on their first field trip!
Surround the State in Song – October 10
Congratulations to our sixth-grade Laker Voices who participated in Surround the State in Song on Saturday, October 10! Mr. Schreier accompanied students to this annual festival, where young singers from across North Dakota gathered at one of seven locations to rehearse throughout the day and perform concerts simultaneously.
Our sixth grade Laker Voices represented DLB beautifully as they joined approximately 150 other local fifth- through seventh-grade students for a concert finale. Thank you Mr. Schreier for all the extra musical activities you provide for our students, DLB is proud of the students' hard work and dedication!
School Custodian Appreciation Day – October 2
A big THANK YOU to our wonderful custodians! Our custodial team works hard behind the scenes to keep our school clean, safe, and ready for learning each day. We appreciate their dedication and all the ways they help make DLB safe and clean! Thank you, Jason Smith, Jason Hintz, Jason Van Winkle and Geri Erb!
Parent-Teacher Conferences and Book Fair – October 13
Thank you to all the families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 13! It is always wonderful to connect with families, celebrate student growth, and work together to help our children become the best they can be! Strong partnerships between home and school make a huge difference! Thank you, too, for supporting our school Book Fair in the library. Your support helps encourage a love of reading and gets great books into the hands of our students!
Our First House Party Was Here!
Our first House Party happened Thursday, October 15th, and BIG WAVE got to celebrate their victory! Congratulations to all our Lakers for earning points this first quarter by following expectations, going above and beyond, great attendance, testing growth, all A's on report card, and Laker Limelight.
Our Houses are about more than points and parties, they are about building relationships, creating school pride, encouraging one another, and helping every student feel that they belong. Keep showing those Laker Values—there is still plenty of excitement ahead!

CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS
7th Grade Science
Our 7th grade Life Science classes were pleased to have Dr. Joe Pettit and his student guide us through viewing multiple life protozoan specimens on Tuesday, October 13th. Ask the 7th grade students you know about their chance to observe spinning paramecium and "gigantic" stentor or the living flagellates from inside a termite gut. We don't get to do that everyday! A huge thank you to Dr. Pettit and the MSU SPARKS program for making this experience possible!
