Corron Mission Statement

Corron is a safe, warm and inviting community where all are valued and empowered. We celebrate growth. Clear evidence highlights the impact we have academically, socially and emotionally.

From the Principal From the Principal

Our annual Corron Fall Fest was a huge success last week! Though a bit chillier than last year, it was the perfect Fall weather for the event. This is always Corron’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and we couldn’t do it without the dedication of our PTO Board and the time and energy from our volunteers. Thank you to all of our parents and teachers who gave of their time to help run activities, supervised different areas throughout the evening, and donated an activity for the silent auction. We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you!!

Enjoy your Halloween weekend!!

Halloween Halloween

  • All celebrations will be held on Friday, October 31st. Classes will participate in our traditional Halloween parade starting at 2:00 followed by classroom parties.

  • Parents are welcome to view the parade outside by standing at the perimeter of the playground or on the south lawn (students will need to walk on the sidewalk).

  • All day K-5 students will wear their costumes in the afternoon only, so please make sure your child can get into his or her costume easily. Please do not send your child in full face make-up, as they will be engaging in learning throughout the rest of their school day.

  • Please remember that students are not allowed to bring replicas of weapons as part of their costumes. We also ask that students tone down anything that might scare our younger students (blood, etc.).

  • Costume masks will be allowed for the parade, but not during the classroom parties.

  • Just a reminder that food is no longer allowed for parties. Please do not send in treats for your child to pass out.

Arrival Reminder Arrival Reminder

Classes begin at 9:05. When your child arrives after that time they are tardy and have already missed the beginning of morning routines and instruction. Please make sure your child arrives at school between 8:50-9:05 where there is plenty of staff supervision present. Thank you.

Veteran's Day Veteran's Day

On Tuesday, November 11th, starting at 2:00pm, Corron Elementary School will host a Veterans Day assembly to celebrate those individuals who have given so much for the freedom we enjoy. Our 5th grade students will lead our assembly to honor the veterans within our Corron community.

We need your help to honor our veteran family members who have served in two ways:

1. We invite our veterans to come to Corron to enjoy our school assembly and receive a special treat in appreciation.

2. We also ask families to submit information and photos to be part of a slideshow of our community veterans.

****Only families of our veteran guests are invited to this assembly due to space constraints.****

If you are interested in a veteran attending the assembly and/or being a part of the slideshow, please complete THIS FORM, which must be submitted by Monday, November 3rd. (Please note: This is the last day we can accept entries in order to ensure we have the supplies and slideshow ready for the celebration.)

A note from the School Nurse A note from the School Nurse

Cold and Flu season is upon us once again. Preventative measures remain the most effective way to reduce the spread of influenza and other viral illnesses. Please review healthy hygiene habits with your student, such as hand washing and keeping hands away from their nose/mouth while at school.

Absences from School

Report all absences to the attendance line. Please provide reason for absences and whether or not your child has a communicable or contagious illness.

Keep a child home from school when:

• Your child has had a fever of 100 degrees F or more within the past 24 hours

• Your child has had vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours

• Your child has an unexplained rash, sore or pink eyes with a discharge

• Your child has a persistent, productive cough

** Your child must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school

** If a bacterial infection has been diagnosed, your child must have 24 hours of antibiotics before returning to school

** If your child has not fully recovered or remained home for the recommended length of time, parents may be contacted and asked to take the child home.

Extended Absences: Extended absences of 5 or more days may require that the student present a doctor's statement of re-admittance to the school nurse. For further information on childhood illnesses and diseases please go to Health Information on the D303 website, or contact your school nurse directly at: cor-nurses@d303.org
