Teacher Appreciation Week

What an amazing week celebrating teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. We were all spoiled with gifts, cards, food, etc. We cannot thank the PTO enough for organizing such a special week for the teachers. I want to personally thank all the Hope Valley School educators. This has been quite the year and our teachers are doing all they can to ensure our students are learning and enjoying school. They are all super heroes and deserve a cape.

Scavenger Hunt Details

Hope Valley PTO Virtual Scavenger Hunt is coming…..

When: May 21-28, to be done after school or on the weekend. You will have the entire week to complete the scavenger hunt.

What: HV PTO will place stickers with QR codes in outdoor locations all over Hope Valley.

How: Using a smart-phone, or similar device, scan the QR code to receive a clue to help you find the next location.

Smile & enjoy the sun!

Choose Love Movement

Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Abbott were both showcased in the Daily Dose of Love newsletter put out by the Choose Love Movement. What an honor to be included in this newsletter. Congratulations Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Abbott.

Choose Love Movement offers free social and emotional learning (SEL) to help people thoughtfully respond to any situation, circumstance, or interaction. ... At the core of it all is a simple daily formula to help you learn and practice essential life skills for improving the world around you.

Recycling Ragatta

The Recycle Regatta is a fun, hands-on competition that students can participate in! Mrs. Mello challenged her students to do their part for the environment by repurposing and recycling. Kenley Waterman in Mrs. Mello's class won "Most Seaworthy". Congratulations Kenley!!!! Click on the link to watch the announcement. Kenley is the first winner introduced with the fastest boat.

Chariho Virtual Art Show

On behalf of Chariho's district Art Department, they would like to welcome you all to their 2021 Virtual Art Show! The show can be accessed here: bit.ly/charihoartshow2021

Safety Concern

When dropping off or picking up your child, it is IMPERATIVE that parents wait until the car in front drives away before exiting. Absolutely no cars should be driving around a car in front of them for obvious safety reasons. Therefore, PLEASE be sure to wait for the car in front of you to pull away before you exit the lot. Your cooperation is very much appreciated.

May and June Activities

At the last PTO meeting, there was a discussion about having some fun activities the last two months of school. Some of the ideas we have are:

  1. Find the bitmoji of Mr. G throughout the school. Children will try to spot the image below throughout the school. If you recall, this was the image used in last year's virtual learning days where students took me along on their travels and posted pictures.
  2. Hope Valley Rocks - Members of the PTO are donating rocks for the students to paint and use for a rock garden. This will be done in school with Mrs. Difranco sometime in early June. The PTO is purchasing all the materials to make this happen. I'll be sure to post pictures when complete.
  3. Outdoor learning and activities - Teachers will be encouraged to take kids outdoors more frequently now that the weather is nice. I will plan a couple of my DJ parties for students since parents met the goal of 70% participation. I am still so grateful for families who took the time to complete SurveyWorks. Once the results are in I will share a summary.
  4. Scavenger Hunt – A scavenger hunt throughout Hope Valley is currently being planned by a small group of parents. Stay tuned for more information.
  5. Field Day - Field day will certainly look different this year. Mr. Gargaro and I will be meeting next week to discuss. Stay tuned.
  6. 4th Grade Send-off - This too will look vastly different. More details to come.

2021-2022 School Calendar

Click directly below for the school calendar. In case it doesn't open, I added 2 screen shots of the calendar as well.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The first day of school for students will be Thursday, September 2nd. We will have school on Friday the 3rd as well, which will lead to a 4-day Labor Day weekend. Students will be back in school on September 8. I like the set-up of the calendar because the transition will be smooth for all students. We start with a 2-day week, followed by a 3-day week, and then a typical 5-day week. Also to note, we will keep monthly early release days (in yellow) and 3 state PD days (in blue).
