2.15.26 Submitting Pages, Proofing Help, Senior/Tribute Ads
This Week's To Do List
- Submitting Pages- No need to wait until your deadline. Submit pages once they are finished.
- Parents, Proofs and Pizza- Invite parents to help read pages before you submit.
- Promote Senior/Tribute Ads-Now is the best time to push senior ads. Be sure to give a hard deadline in your marketing materials.
- Promote Photo Contest- Walsworth's Photo Contest is coming soon. Have students select photos to submit.
- Promote Summer Workshops- Hopefully, you've emailed parents about workshop dates. Start talking with students and getting them excited about attending.
Submitting Pages
When pages are finalized, you can submit them easily. This will save time and stress on your final deadline date. BUT know that once you submit, it cannot be changed or unsubmitted.
Parents, Proofs and Pizza
Get an extra set of eyes on your pages before final submission — and turn proofreading into a fun, community-building event. Invite students and their parents to review layouts, catch last-minute corrections, and celebrate the hard work that’s gone into creating the yearbook.
Print PDFs, order pizza, provide pens, and create a relaxed atmosphere where families can flip through pages and offer helpful feedback. Fresh eyes can catch small details that might otherwise be missed, giving your staff added confidence before submitting final files.
Beyond improving your book, this event builds connections. Parents see firsthand the creativity, collaboration, and skills their students are developing in your class. It was always one of my favorite events — not just for the proofing help.

What is this group?
A group of first-year (or new) advisers. Your Walsworth rep has added you to this group for new advisers. If you would like to be removed, please email me and let me know. Most Sundays, I’ll send updates to help you in your classroom. Each update will be full of checklists, classroom help and pro tips.

I’ve served as Webmaster for the Texas Association of Journalism Educators (TAJE) and received multiple honors, including:
- 2025 Commended Adviser Award
- 2024 CSPA’s Distinguished Adviser Award
- 2022 JEA Media of Merit Award
- 2021 NSPA Pioneer Award
- 2018 JEA Distinguished Adviser Award
- 2015 Max Haddick Texas Adviser of the Year
- 2013 TAJE Trailblazer
- 2010 Edith Fox King Texas Journalism Teacher Award
In June, I joined the Walsworth family as the Texas Education Specialist. My job is to help you and your students build a stronger yearbook while making your job easier.
