The Board Bulletin is published monthly following the voting meeting of the Board and is for informational purposes to keep the West York Area School District Community informed of Board happenings and is not intended as an official record of meetings. To view official meeting minutes, please visit BoardDocs and click on the specific meetings of interest. Each meeting's minutes are presented to the Board for approval at the following meeting. Due to the primary election being held on May 20th, we will have one combined Work Session/Board Meeting on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The schedule will be:

• 5:00 p.m. Educational Programming Committee (EPC) Meeting
• 7:00 p.m. Combined Work Session / Board Meeting

• A roll call of Directors was conducted, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
• The minutes from the April 8, 2025, Work Session were approved.
• Presentations:
• Alyssa Hedgcock, High School Student Council President, shared updates from the High School.
• Ms. Carrie Jones, High School Principal, along with Assistant Principals Kris Marino and Scott Shirey, Business Ed Teacher TJ Meese, and students Darien Reimold and Stella Friedah shared a data-teaming presentation.
• Dr. Davies shared updates from the District to include the Future Leaders of York Luncheon, the NJROTC Pass in Review Inspection, and the PA Auditor General's Visit to Wallace Elementary.
• Public Comment:
• There was no public comment.
• Action was taken on the following items:
• 2025 Bond Issuance
• 2024-25 Driver Recommendations
• Food Service equipment purchase
• Inventory Removal of food service stand mixer
• LERTA Agreement
• LIU12 Lending Library Agreement
• Three student expulsions
• Summer Meal Program elimination
• Two Use of Facilities applications for the West York Basketball Booster Club and the West York Girls Basketball Booster Club
• Personnel items to include new hires, transfers, resignations, volunteers, etc.
• Approval of monthly financial statements

• Informational Reports, including the district rentals, enrollment report, and conference report, were shared.
  
• Other Matters
• A reminder about the May 13th meeting was shared.
• Soft approval was given for an NJROTC trip to Penn State Main Campus next week.
• President Rice adjourned the meeting.

• The minutes from the March 18, 2025, meeting of the Board were approved.

• Discussion items included:

• 2025 Bond Issuance
• 2025-26 Budget
• The Board decided to take action to add the NJROTC program to the Work Session agenda for a vote. The vote to add it to the agenda was unanimous at 8-0.
• A roll-call vote was held to approve adding the NJROTC program to the 2025-26 budget. The vote was unanimous at 8-0.

• First Policy Reviews: 103, 105, 226, 234, 604, 620, 815.1, 824
• Food Service Equipment Purchase

• Personnel Recommendations for action at the April 15 Board Meeting were shared with the Board.
• Committee Reports: Note that internal committee minutes are attached to the Work Session agenda in the month following the committee meeting.
• Internal Committees:
• Budget and Finance Committee – Director Gettys
• The 2025-26 Budget will be on next week's voting agenda.

• Cocurricular Committee – Director Rice
  • A meeting was held on March 18th - minutes are attached.
  • The next meeting is scheduled for June 10th at 5:30 p.m.
• CEC Committee – Director Shope
  • The next meeting is April 15th, prior to the Board Meeting.
• Educational Programming Committee – Vice President Hamme
  • A meeting was held on March 11th - minutes are attached.
  • The next meeting will be on May 13th at 5:30 p.m.
• Facilities Committee – President Rice
  • Will be moving forward with planning.
• Foundation for the WYASD – Director Dugan
  • Scholarships were decided.
  • Had no applicants for the football player $10K scholarship.
• Wellness Committee - Director Dugan
  • No report. Next meeting is April 10th.
• External Committees and Boards:

• West Manchester Township Recreation Committee – Director Herman
  • On behalf of Director Herman, Director Shope reported that Lori Trimmer and Kristi Swartz have official retired and a replacement has been hired.
• York County School of Technology – Director Harlacher
  • Directors Harlacher and Gettys attended the last meeting and brought up concerns about the budget and programming.
  • Voted no to the Act 93 agreement.
• York County School of Technology Authority - Director Gettys
  • No report.
• York Adams Academy – President Rice
  • Reported the 2025-26 calendar was approved and graduation is on the horizon.
• York/LIU Joint Authority and LIU Board of Directors – Treasurer Gettys
  • Joint Authority: Pursuing options for the York Learning Center both onsite and offsite.
  • LIU Board: Presented Special Ed Plan
  • Dawn's Early Light attached.

• Public Comment:

• There was no public comment.

• President Rice adjourned the meeting.
