St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER |WEEK 7 TERM 2 2026
I hope you have all had a good week.
As we move through this 11-week term, teachers and the Leadership Team are very busy preparing Semester reports, which will be sent home at the end of term. This is a significant undertaking as staff carefully reflect on each student's progress and achievements across all areas of their learning.
While report writing is a major focus at this time of the term, it is also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the unique growth we see in our students every day. Alongside academic development, we continue to witness important progress in social skills, confidence, resilience and independence.
Student learning is a journey that takes time, encouragement and partnership. We sincerely thank our families for the support you provide at home and for working alongside us to help every child thrive, both in and out of the classroom. Next week, I will be sending out some information about some changes CEWA have made to our reports and processes. Please look out for it so that we are all on the same page at report time.
Raising happy, respectful, optimistic kids takes daily nurture. Amidst the busyness of everyday family life it can be helpful to listen to those who have some good advice.
Parenting author, educator, and host of The Good Enough Dad podcast, Maggie Dent explains that firm boundaries held in place are good for our kids. Secure attachment with a child means they can handle the word “no” and handle the boundaries we set as parents and carers.
In this YouTube for parents, she explains that modelling ‘firm and fair’ with love in equal measure, and ‘holding the line’ when it’s required, is the way to be a firm, yet loving parent.

Wishing you and your wonderful families a really good weekend!
Geordie
Our Year 4 students recently enjoyed an exciting High School Immersion Day at Kolbe Catholic College where they had the opportunity to experience a variety of subjects and activities available to them in secondary school. Throughout the day, students explored specialist areas such as Science, Art, Technology, Physical Education and Performing Arts, while participating in engaging hands-on activities. The immersion day gave students a valuable glimpse into high school life, helping to build their confidence, curiosity and excitement for the future. It was wonderful to see students enthusiastically trying new experiences and embracing the opportunities on offer.
Assembly Friday 12 June
The following students will be receiving Merit Awards at next week's Assembly, which starts at 8.50am in the undercover area. Family and friends are welcome to join us.
Allergy Reminder
Our school is a Nut Aware & Allergy Aware environment. We have students with severe allergies, including nut and egg anaphylaxis.
To help us keep all children safe, we ask families to please be mindful when packing lunchboxes and avoid sending foods that contain nuts, nut products, or eggs. Please be especially mindful of hard boiled eggs, eggs in salads, curried eggs, meringues etc. We ask that you remind your children not to touch others after eating and that they wash their hands thoroughly.
We appreciate your support and understanding in helping us create a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Arriving late to school/leaving early
Parents are reminded that if your child arrives late to school or needs to leave early, they must please be signed in or signed out at the school office. This process ensures accurate attendance records and helps us maintain the safety and wellbeing of all students.
Our 3 Year Old Kindy's will also have a running race, more information to follow! 👟🏃
We do need parent helpers for Cross Country. If you are able to assist us on the day, please email the office!

In the Catholic tradition, our parish and school are closely connected.
The parish, led by Father Giovanni, provides spiritual leadership and is responsible for ensuring we nurture students’ faith alongside academic learning. The school supports the parish by helping children grow in Catholic values, preparing them for sacraments, and encouraging family participation in parish life.
It’s essentially a partnership — the parish is the faith community, and the school is one of its key ministries. For more information about our Parish, please click here:
