We want to thank each of you for your preparation for our visit. While we have worked hard to get our building ready, please know this visit is about YOU and the work you do each and every day with our students and their families. Below are the domains in which we will be scored, with a little description. We will talk further during our Collaborative Conversation.

1. Student Achievement - Quantitative and Qualitative - Please make sure you produce conferring notes, goal sheets, anecdotal notes, running records, work samples, etc. to show what students are learning and how you are moving students academically.

2. Instructional Programs - Refer to our Work Site Plan - know our focus for Reading and Math - Refer to your Learning Targets - Discuss Curriculum - Anchor Charts and how they are being used. Do you know what's in the application? Scheduling, RTI, Resource, Coding, EAGLES - Do we maximize instructional time?

3. School Culture - Content rich environments - technology use - student leadership - classroom roles - social/emotional safety - will ask students if they feel safe/welcome - who do they ask for help. How do we celebrate teachers? Do you feel supported? Are we inclusive?

4. Professional Learning Community - Our process for our mission/vision? Overall culture of the school? DO you believe your school represents Palmetto's Finest? How do we use data - Data cycles - why are they important? How does it drive our instruction and focus?

BELIEVE IN THE WORK YOU DO! WE GOT THIS!!

Counselors' Corner

Dear Teachers,

Just a friendly reminder that if we are called out of a classroom, it is an emergency that cannot wait. This has happened on several occasions and we understand it may be frustrating. We will reschedule your class as soon as possible.

Also, If a student requests to see the counselor please have them fill out the referral forms and put them in our mailboxes on our doors. If it is something where the student needs to be seen that day ( not an emergency), please email your classroom counselor. As always, please remember we are here for you and our students.

Have a great week! Angela, Ruth, and Elizabeth

Math

Have you tried Which One Doesn't Belong (or Eliminate It!) with your kids? This is a great way to get kids discussing their reasoning and logic behind making certain choices. Here is a document with LOTS of examples you could pull from. They are grouped by grade but some may work at different levels. Check it out and give some a try with your kiddos. You may be amazed at their thinking.
