Happy October, East families! Fall is definitely in the air — the crisp mornings, colorful leaves, and cozy sweaters are a sure sign that the season is changing.

I’m so grateful to share that my treatment went well, and I’m officially back on island and back at school. It feels so good to be home! I’ve missed our Cubs and the daily joy that fills our hallways. Greeting families in the drop-off line each morning has truly been one of the best parts of my day — I love starting the morning with smiles, waves, and little conversations that make East feel like such a special place.

As I continue settling back in, I’d love the chance to get to know our East families even better. That’s why I’m starting something new — Ms. Audra’s Coffee Connect ☕💬

Coffee Connect is an informal time for us to come together, share what’s on your mind, and talk about how things are going at school. This isn’t a space for individual teacher concerns, but rather a way to focus on our school–family partnership: what’s working well, what you’d like to see more of, and ideas for making East an even better place for our Cubs.

It’s also a way for you to get to know me — many of us are still new to one another with the recent reconfigurations, and I want you to feel connected and comfortable. We’ll start with one session this month ( please see flyer below for details) and then build from there based on your feedback about what days and times work best.

I hope you’ll grab a cup of coffee and join me — I can’t wait to connect with you! 💛🐾

If your family is being affected by the government shutdown due to furloughs,

contract suspensions, layoffs or paycheck withholding,

please submit an updated free/reduced meal waiver form.

You may qualify due to a change in your income.

If you are receiving unemployment payments, be sure to include that amount on your application.

If you are not receiving a paycheck during this time, be sure to enter your income as $0.00.

We have paper copies and translated versions in the office and as well.

Each Friday Ms. Audra will be pulling names from our Caring Cubs bucket.

Those students will get to come up to the office to visit our treasure chest...

Ms. Aimee's 1st graders showed us their lovely faces and their favorite things!

Kindergarten = 11:10am

First Grade = 11:35am

Second Grade = 12:00pm

Third Grade = 12:30pm

Breakfasts = $3.50 Lunches = $4.75

Families are always welcome to join their students for lunch time!

Be sure to sign in with the office before heading to cafeteria.

Please bring your own lunch or call in the morning to order an adult meal.

Adult meals are $9.00 this year.

We go outside rain or shine most days. (Sometimes we catch rainbows!)

Be sure to send boots, coats and cold weather items every day.

East Cubs go outside for recess no matter the weather, so help them be prepared.

We will stay indoors if it is extremely cold/icy/windy.

School Newsletter

Look for your weekly newsletter, Little Paws Press, in your inboxes every Monday afternoon.

There will be lots of useful info stored at the end of each for your reference all year.

General School Information

Emails from PowerschoolMessenger and Smore will be the main

form of communication that you will receive for all general

school information and updates outside of your student's classroom.

Urgent or Emergency Communications

All school emergency notices or alerts will be sent through

PowerSchoolMessenger emails or PowerSchoolMessenger automated calls.

Please take a moment to confirm that your phone numbers and emails

are up to date and correct in your parent portal or check with us in the office.

Individual Classroom/Teacher Communications

KIBSD Staff will only be communicating through district issued devices and applications.

Faculty and staff will no longer be texting or calling with their personal phone numbers.

If you need to reach your child's teacher during the school day please

email, connect via SeeSaw or call the office to leave a message.

Need to speak with your principal?

Call the office to see if Ms. Audra is available or to leave a message.

Ms. Audra always tries to make time to speak with families

but scheduling an appointment time is recommended.
