Elementary Songfest

On April 4th, 9 students from the 5th/6th grade chorus traveled to Cameron County HS
for the IU9 Elementary Songfest. After much preparation on a very challenging folder of music, they spent the day practicing with a large group of 100+ students from surrounding schools. The IU9 chorus performed an extraordinary concert the same evening.

High School Coding

The students have been building, coding, and flying drones using For the Win Robotics. They are working on collaboration and communication in order to successful "Follow the Leader" with a partner, where one student gives the directions and the other partner flies the drone to a target.

8th Grade

Pod Casting in the library is up and running. Students have been enjoying the opportunity to create their own information and stories. Some students have also discovered how fun the system is for making up songs on media literacy.

First Grade

Mr. Neefe's 1st graders have been learning all about life cycles by hatching baby chicks right in our classroom! From keeping the eggs warm in the incubator to watching the chicks peck their way out of their shells, it’s been an egg-citing adventure! One special moment had everyone smiling when we saw a chick start to crack open—and the whole class burst into singing “Happy Birthday”! The students have loved caring for the fluffy newcomers and learning what it takes to help something grow. It's been a hands-on science experience full of curiosity, wonder, and lots of cheeps!

Student Writing Student Writing

Pre-K and Kindergarten

Mrs. Distrola's Prek class visited Mrs. Jensen's Kindergarten class for a Spring writing activity.

PreK students shared their favorite spring animals, sounded out letters to make the words, and drew illustrations to match. Kindergarten students helped by sharing animal picture cards and sounding out words.

Kindergarten

During intervention, some Kindergarten students are working on TDA's (text dependent analysis). We have listened to fiction and non-fiction texts about weather, spring, and earthworms.

Graphic organizers help us stay on topic. We have discussed fact and opinion, point of view, and sequencing the story.

We love to share our information with our peers.
