A Message from Creighton Governing Board President, Sophia Carrillo
Hola Creighton Community,
It has been a true privilege to see the strong connections forming throughout our community as efforts to engage with local businesses and neighbors continue to grow. As the end of the school year approaches, the outpouring of support from each of you is deeply appreciated. Together, we’ve seen amazing progress from the beautiful new soccer fields in schools to the successful implementation of our dual language programs and the innovative project-based learning environments created in our schools.
While there is much to celebrate, challenges remain, particularly for those who are most vulnerable, our children. To build on the foundation we’ve already established, the opportunity to strengthen business partnerships within Creighton is a crucial next step. A personal invitation is extended to all members of the community to visit our schools, experience firsthand the impact of our classrooms, Family Resource Center, and Community Education Department, and witness the work being done to strengthen our students, families, and staff.
With funding cuts on the horizon, the need for collective action is more pressing than ever. Together, it is possible to create the solutions that will ensure our students’ success and contribute to a stronger, healthier Creighton. The strength of our public schools is tied directly to the strength of our community, and when we support education, we are also investing in the future workforce and economy.
Let’s continue to work together to build a brighter future for our students and for all of Creighton. The partnership between our schools, families, businesses, and community members is essential to achieving this shared vision. Thank you for all the support that has been given. We look forward to working with you in achieving our purpose of equipping empowered students.
Gracias,
Sophia Carrillo
Earth Day at Kennedy School
ABC15 covered Earth Day activities at Kennedy School. Students created "seed balls" that are a mixture of native clay, soil, and wild flowers. The students will drop the seed balls around campus with the intent to create pockets of wildflowers! 🌱🌸🌼
No One Eats Alone at TCA
No One Eats Alone Day is a student-led initiative, organized by the non-profit organization Beyond Differences, with the primary goal of ending social isolation in schools, particularly during lunchtime. It's all about fostering a culture of belonging where every student feels included, valued, and has someone to connect with.
Mr. Hudson's 7th and 8th-grade classes and Ms. Klutz's 5th and 6th-grade classes partnered up, giving students the chance to connect with someone they didn't already know and meet someone new. Hudson and Klutz organized these pairings, and the event was a great success. Students met a new peer on campus and collaboratively created a 'Helping Hands Take Flight' art piece. This artwork was then assembled into a mural, providing a backdrop for students to take photos and share their experiences, unique qualities, and commonalities. Ultimately, No One Eats Alone Day aims to create a more positive and supportive school environment for all students.

Maricopa County Environmental Services Visits Loma Linda
Ms. Burchill's class had a guest speaker from Maricopa County Environmental Services come out and talk to her class about Stormwater Pollution Prevention. The students became "Stormwater Inspectors" and got to inspect a storm drain on our campus. Afterwards, they created posters for the yearly poster contest. This year's theme was, "My Invention for Stormwater Pollution Prevention." One of her students, Daniel V., had his design chosen for their yearly calendar! The Maricopa County Department of Environmental Services received a total of 554 entries this year from 25 schools.
